If I haven't heard, should I expect a rejection?

I applied in oct. and was deferred in December, and still have not heard. I've gotten into a few other places at this point and want to weigh my options. So if I haven't heard should I expect a rejection or another waitlists?
Answer brutally please.

waitlist…

damn…i’m also in the same situation

I haven’t heard either. What could it be then?

I’ve read that plenty of people were admitted last year close to April 15th… so hope definitely is not lost yet. I talked to them yesterday and they said they still haven’t gotten to a lot of applications… doesn’t necessarily mean that they are waitlisted

No! Do not lose hope! I applied in January and did not receive my acceptance letter until this Tuesday. One of my friends was deferred in December and received an acceptance letter about a week ago. So please do not lose hope as you still have the chance of being accepted like anyone else. :)

thanks for the hope azarap!

Seriously, I’ve practically lost all hope. It would be the best moment of my life if I get in =D

There are definately students who were admitted in early April, according to last years thread. Though for those who were deferred ( including me) chances of admission are low, and by rumors most of us deferrels will be offered waitlist ( possibly for many a second technical rejection) or admitted… its been stated that UMich does not reject anyone who applied ER ( well if you decline waitlist then you were rejected, if you accept waitlist you will likely be rejected while in the process of going elsewhere).

^See that is so whack. I honestly would rather them say no right away then for them to drag this **** out. I submitted my application almost 8 months ago and at this time last year was already crafting my essays. If you said to me you won’t hear back until April/May I would’ve told you that you were out f your effin mind. Does anyone else feel like this has been a slow and painful death???

^
Yeah I agree. I was alarm that this was likely of many not hearing a final decision until mid-April but I didn’t think I myself would be one ( due to time applied). I didn’t find it distracting to the college process until recent months when I discovered that most universities notify students of a decision by April 1st. I have read numerous post where students claim they ( or someone else) applied and instanly recieved a acceptance… never have I recalled one getting a rejection. Concluding in that most who have not heard back are rejected.

Due to the month of April within a few hours, many should start getting decisions soon. Maybe this week.

^ ^ totally agreed. I sent all my things in to Michigan in mid-October and they apparently lost my transcript so I wasn’t considered in the Early Response period. Then they deferred me in February and I’m still eagerly waiting for a decision. It seems as if there isn’t much hope now but who knows anymore. Does anyone have an idea of roughly how many people apply for the freshman class, how many are accepted and how many are waitlisted and get in off the waitlist?

Ehhhhh I’ve heard like 37% but that seems high. Who knows. Maybe Alexandre knows…

Last year 8926 were put on the waiting list…100 were admitted off of it. You’d have a better chance winning the lottery.

No, 8926 were offered a place on the waitlist. Only 2440 actually accepted a place.

Still a crappy percentage, but not as unlikely as winning the lottery. At this point, I would hope that most everyone deferred has other schools they are excited about.
