If I miss the college deadline will I still be considered?

I applied but I don't think my documents will get there by the early deadline. Will I get put into rolling admissions or will they not look at me for early nor rolling and Ill have to reapply?

Depends on the school and the circumstances. For applicants submitting through Common App, my gut feeling is that there will be much leniency this year due to all the problems with Common App. If timely submission of the documents was entirely in your hands, I wouldn’t expect much leeway, as doing otherwise would be unfair to applicants who followed the rules.

They will usually give a little leeway for the supporting documents but you need to do everything you can to try to get those in as close to the deadline as possible.

Once your docs are in, you should email and make sure you are being considered for ED and if not, find out if you are automatic considered for rolling–the college should tell you how that is handled.

If I could somehow derive some royalty payment – maybe take pledges and donate the final amount to charity… it’d be a tidy sum!*

How did you miss the deadline? What school has an earlier date than 11/1? All you need to do is have it postmarked by that date, so you should be fine.

^ There are schools with Oct 15 deadline for EA/ED. Even some have extended for a week, it has passed their deadlines. Some schools would use postmark for the deadline, but many require receiving everything by the deadline (UMich). Some schools would put all incomplete EA into the RD.
