If I'm a communication studies major do I have to take speech at UT?

So taking CMS 306M (speech) is required for communication studies majors, wondering if I could just take it at community college instead. I know it may not look too good but just wondering if I would be required to take it here. I doubt it but just want to make sure.

I don’t know about taking it at a community college, but the class is pretty fun and fairly easy depending on how hard your professor grades. Its a class of about 30 people and other than your speeches, there’s not that much work. The professors are usually pretty young and upbeat. I’d say that even if you may have the choice to take it somewhere else, take it at UT.

yeah I’ve heard that speech can be hard depending on your professor, tho somehow I think I got a bad one, my class is from 11-12 which I consider to be a good time and it’s still open, even though almost every single speech class is closed except for two early morning ones…I’m going to attend class tomorrow to see how it goes but it’s not looking too good

Just curious, why would a Communications Major shy away from a Speech class?

I’m actually not a comm. major yet, I’m thinking about changing my major, and my advisor told me that I should take a CMS class do really well and then do an internal transfer. I’m actually registered for two right now b/c I couldn’t decide which to pick. Hope that makes sense.
