Are there drawbacks to being waitlisted and then being accepted, versus being accepted regularly? I know that simply getting into Cal Poly is good enough, but won’t we get last picks for dorms and miss out on freshman orientation and everything else? I am just wondering…thanks!

hey einnob
you might be correct about the dorms but your wrong about freshman orientation
WOW(Week of Welcome) is the Freshman Orientation(not required but highly recommended) which is the week before fall quarter starts so you def wont miss out on that
i visited yesterday and i liked it
hope you get accepted!

oh okay, thanks! :]

einobb^ what is the major you applied for? I am thinking that this could be a factor of you getting in off the waitlist. The students who were accepted to CP, but will choose to go to another college may be in certain majors. I am thinking that a lot of engineering, arch and business majors will go to CP, but some of the other majors may choose another college. Just a thought. I know that April will seem like a very long month for you and others who are waiting. Hang in there!

Yes, the Week Of Welcome (WOW) will be a great way for you to meet others if you get in and by then it won’t matter at all who was on the waitlist! You can also attend the Open House on the Saturday, April 17th. That is for anyone to attend. Lots of tours and ways to see what a nice school CP is. It will probably just make waiting harder though…

I applied for the school of architecture; I agree that a lot of the people for engineering and architecture could actually go to cal poly. An admissions officer told me that the waiting list is not long, and I am writing a letter to the admissions office and the arch school that can hopefully help me with their decision.

Best wishes, einnob! Fingers are crossed for you. And, anyone else on the waitlist who really wants to be at Cal Poly SLO! :)
