If you could go to any Ivy League which would it be and why?

This is such an unbelievably hard question. I can’t even decide what Ivies to apply to because they all sound so amazing to me, but I already have so many reaches on my list. If I actually got accepted and had to choose one…oh my goodness.

Brown’s open curriculum causes so many people to fall in love with the school. The people are chill and the town is charming; there’s just so much to say about Brown.

Cornell is appealing mostly because it’s in reach. It is a reach school for everyone but it’s the sort of reach that you might be able to get if you stand on your tippy toes.

Columbia is in New York City which makes it attractive to both city folks who want to stay in the city and country folks who want to turn their lives around. Just the name Columbia screams out “big” to me. Big reputation, big city, small chances…

Dartmouth certainly isn’t for everyone. It’s in the middle of nowhere and has a big Greek scene. But if you’re of the ivy level caliber, like parties, dislike cities, then Dartmouth is irresistable.

Imagine telling someone that you go to Harvard. How amazing would that feel? Harvard has a reputation that no school can live up to. You tell someone you go to UPenn, they say “University Park?”. You tell someone you go to Dartmouth, they say “where?” You tell someone you go to Harvard, they say “wow, really? Harvard?” They actually doubt your words.

Princeton is the strong undergraduate school. Its academics are matched with Harvard and the school consistently produces powerful alumni. But the main is attraction is the beautiful campus, no doubt.

I picture Wharton as a Russian spy program. Maybe it’s just me. I don’t know how to explain this one, but UPenn holds the elitest of the business world, just like the Russians hold the elitest of spies. Okay, yeah, this isn’t making sense

Then there’s Yale. Yale has almost the same situation as Harvard where the prestige comes in. Yet there’s something about Yale that screams “too good for Harvard.”

That being said, my personal preferences are Brown, Dartmouth and Princeton. I love all the other schools, I just know that I have to limit myself.

Thanks for answering. Right now, my personal choice is Yale.

Here is the order in which I would attend

Would be dream schools:

 1. Harvard
 2. Yale
 3. Princeton

Would be very happy at:
4. Dartmouth
5. Penn

Ambivalent:
6. Cornell

Would not be happy at:

Columbia

Brown

A near-tie between Yale and Brown, with a slight inclination toward Yale. Just seems a tad more comfortable and awesome than Brown. But either would be incredible.

Yale or Princeton, without a doubt. Columbia a close third

Columbia. Best school in the state, and more importantly, best school in the best city.

Probably either Cornell or Brown. I’m not sure why, but they’ve always seemed like the more “fun” ivy leagues to may. Maybe I’d also consider Columbia, because I love NYC.

haha i love this post!
For me, it’d DEFINITELY be YALE <3 there’s a certain allure about Yale that I can’t fully grasp yet.

I went ivy league touring earlier this year, and I completely and utterly fell head over heels in love with yale. First and foremost, it seems to me that Yale is one of the most intellectual Ivy Leagues, and that’s what I’m looking for in an undergrad education. Annotating the works of Aristotle, reading and analyzing Nietzche alskdjfh.

Second, the gothic architecture of the campus is so so so so beautiful…I can just imagine myself on a spring afternoon, wandering across campus and walking by the harkness tower and all the other gorgeous buildings and appreciating the architecture.

Finally, THE CATHEDRAL OF KNOWLEDGE. Need I say more??? Delving into all those books…oh my goodness.

Although Yale is stereotypically regarded as one of the more “snobby” and “rich kid” ivy universities, I did NOT get that vibe from the students; i felt they were all down to earth, humble, enthusiastic to be at Yale and all shared a passion for learning!

Also I wouldn’t mind going to Princeton or Columbia or Penn(Wharton) haha.

I definitely DON’T want to attend college in a rural place…so Dartmouth and cornell are big No’s.

harvard and brown’s campuses turned me off…quite ugly and dingy (no offense). the campuses feel not as cared for as Yale/Princeton/Columbia.

Columbia would be lovely because NYC is such a vibrant city! columbia and NYC go hand in hand and it would be such an amazing undergrad experience!

Princeton, although the campus is wonderful and breathtaking, it only offers single majors…no double majoring allowed :frowning: I want to double major in economics and philosophy and princeton wouldn’t let me pursue both, so Princeton would not be a viable option for me.

Penn (wharton) obviously has one of the best undergrad business schools in the world, so i can get a degree in economics from wharton and then a degree in philosophy from penn!

So I decided to tally up the scores. Right now:

 1. Brown - 11
 2. Yale -10
 3. Harvard - 10
 4. Princeton - 8
 5. Columbia - 6
 6. U Penn - 3
 7. Cornell - 3
 8. Dartmouth - 3

If you gave multiple colleges, I counted each as a vote. However, if you stated which one you preferred, I only counted a vote for your top college.

Thanks for answering! Keep voting!

I’d definitely go with UPenn mainly because of close proximity to home, Wharton, and the social life. Columbia would be a close second, with NYC being the sole reason.

Thanks for answering!

Cornell - Outstanding academics in just about any field/discipline [most diverse Ivy]
- Gorgeous campus
-Ithaca, a wonderful college town
-Big Red hockey [men’s and women’s]

I’d have to say Yale. It’s close to me. Great academics. I like that it’s not as intense (per say) as Harvard/Princeton. I really like the residential college system too.

Here’s an update!

Brown - 11

Yale -11

Harvard - 10

Princeton - 8

Columbia - 6

U Penn - 4

Cornell - 4

Dartmouth - 3

If you gave multiple colleges, I counted each as a vote. However, if you stated which one you preferred, I only counted a vote for your top college.

Thanks for answering! Keep voting!

I’m tied between Yale and Princeton xD. I was in love with Princeton for a long time, fell out of love because of its location, but now I’m back to loving it :D

You should put in a category for those of us who would choose none of the above. (or did you count me as Yale?)

Cornell. The beauty of upstate NY, the northern fall and winter (I’m of the opinion that six feet of snow is better than sun), and the most diverse academics of any Ivy.

Brown or Upenn. Easy

brown plme would be uber ideal! I love the liberal arts component to the sciences! seriously considering applying there ED. Columbia+UPenn are also ones I would want to go to because of their locations.

Stanford+MIT= preferable, though.

for some reason, I don’t think I’d enjoy Yale that much. Then again, that’s just from what I’ve read/ heard, and I really need to visit to decide whether or not I’m applying.
