If you could go to any Ivy League which would it be and why?

Harvard.
The name will get me places. I know people argue over that, but I’m a firm believer that Harvard will make you successful, as long as you still work hard and know what you want in life.

However, I wouldn’t mind Princeton or Yale either. Or Dartmouth simply because of the boys.

Thanks for answering!

I graduated Harvard. If I could do it over, I would seriously consider Columbia. I love NYC and prefer to be in the middle of a major, cosmopolitan metropolis.

Next, would be Penn.

For some reason, Princeton & Dartmouth have NEVER appealed to me personally.

Of course, Yale is the worst. ;)

I’d have to say:

 1. Columbia
 2. Yale
 3. Brown

Columbia just has the allure of not only being a great university but also being in NYC.

Harvard.

It’s perf.

Cornell, because I did go to Cornell and I absolutely love everything about it.

As a side note, it wasn’t until I was really at Cornell that I realized how stupid it is to actually debate which top schools are better than others. Cornell might not be the most known Ivy, but it’s ridiculous to think that someone who goes to Harvard would get a superior education there. The fact is, all of these schools are great, and the opportunities that will come your way after graduating from one of them will really depend much more on the individual than the school he or she attended. I’m not saying great schools don’t open doors - they certainly do - but a Cornell grad will have just as many doors open to him as a graduate from any other Ivy. Therefore, to everyone saying they’d pick one Ivy over another because of the quality of education or the level of prestige of that particular school, I highly suggest you research these schools and pick the one at which you will be happiest instead - that is, if you’re actually applying to them and choosing between them :)

Edit: I just finished the application process for medical schools, and the prevailing attitude towards medical schools on SDN seem to be: go where you fit best. I’m not sure if this is simply because med school applicants are older than/more mature than college applicants, or if it’s because all med schools are considered good, but I think the same philosophy should apply to choosing colleges (especially similarly ranked colleges). Unfortunately, this rarely seems to be the case on CC.

Brown, because it’s just awesome. UPenn’s a close second, though.

Probably Columbia because its in NYC and there are so many social opportunities even though its in Harlem which might be kind of dangerous
but Harvard would be a close second
if I could attend any school in the world it would be Stanford though
without a doubt
I absolutely love the bay area

I’d pick Dartmouth

I’d have a really hard turning down Harvard, but Princeton would be an appealing option too. I’m really not sure which I’d choose out of those two. Probably in the end Princeton because less people graduate with debt, but it’d be a tight race.

Brown!! The open curriculum is awesome

I would have to say Yale just because of everything I have read and heard about the school. It sounds like the brighter counterpart to Harvard in all aspects.

I guess the first thing I would ask is what do you want to study. If you said Agriculture or Industrial and Labor Relations, I’d have to go with Cornell. If you want a general liberal arts education – you have lots of choices.

Apart from this, the Ivies are very distinct – for example – Brown, Penn, Harvard, Columbia and Yale are urban-ish schools. Princeton suburban, and Dartmouth, Cornell rural. Brown has an open curriculum, others still have distribution requirements – demonstrating a different undergraduate educational philosophy.

So, it depends on what you look for – as for me – I’m a proud Cornell Alum, so that’s what I vote for.

Columbia.

Its undergraduate curriculum is really something. I’d love to have something like the Core. Also its location in NYC doesn’t hurt either ;)

But please. Brown is as urban as Providence in Rhode FREAKING Island can get. It feels like Boston shrunk down 100x. Same with Yale. New Haven is nothing without Yale. Princeton is suburban-ish but very much college/commuter town.

HYP are one in the same, curriculum and student-life wise.
