kezbies, I can DEFINITELY understand your position. However I did not apply ED because I was very unsure about my family's financial abilities... turns out that our combined assets were alot more than we estimated (~650k); very dim-witted of us, I know, but I live in a subpar neighborhood and even though I'm not destitute I never grew up with the impression we could afford NYU.

But to be honest NYU is my #1 choice, realistically. I applied to Tufts, but I feel that's out of my range... now my 1st quarter grades were bad (1 C...) and I feel like I just shot my chances way down.

One of my friends applied ED into CAS and got in, he had a lower GPA than I did at the beginning of the school year (.2 difference) and (pretty sure) lower SAT's; he was presidents of about 3 or so clubs, though.

Groovy, the first quarter ended before the holiday season. My school handles RD transcript releases at that time, so all schools people apply to under RD receive the first quarter grades. Now I don't think I said that I sent my midyear grades so don't jump to conclusions. :)

Heh, I applied to Boston University too. xD But really, I wouldn't be upset at all if I didn't get into NYU providing I got into USC. If I didn't get into either, I'd frown. xD I've been trying to keep the least optimistic attitude about everything.

haha I applied to BU too..
if I don't get in to NYU (and assuming I don't get into Columbia, Tufts, Vassar, or Wesleyan) I'll probably go to University of Pittsburgh for a year to save $$ and apply again as a transfer
