if you don't have a car...

i don't have my license yet, so i won't be getting a car anytime soon. besides riding with other people, how does public transportation around usc work? like buses or whatever. do people usually take the bus to the mall and things like that...?

justtt wondering. :)

I've never used LA public transportation and I've lived here all my life...doesn't say too much about our public transportation, does it?

The area around USC is pretty bad. I don't think you'll want to be waiting for a bus there. But I think they have stops inside USC, which should be fine.

People manage without having a car, so you should be fine.

The area's not that bad where you can't stand around for a bus (don't do it at night, though, which is common sense anywhere). I've done it before, to get to UCLA.

On the other hand, as 2+2 says, no one (well, meaning USC students) takes the bus (unless you're me who has to go see her friend at UCLA). But no one takes the bus for normal occasions. You'll be fine catching rides with other people. The bus is not a very fun experience.

lol, I got the "Tommy Transportation" DVD today.

Yeah, I got that on Saturday...the narrator's voice is so smooth and hilarious.

Actually, now that I am getting old (the fact that I am a now a senior is just creepy) I have friends that live in places like Pasadena and Redondo Beach. When you are planning on going drinking in these places, the metro is not at all a bad option except you either have to leave to catch the last train by 1:30 am or wait until they start up again at 4:30 am. And there is a USC tram that runs to the metro station.

As for buses, ummm, no thank you.
