If you don't live near Boston

It’s amazing how crowded and alive the streets around BU are now. This week is still move-in week for apartments around the city - with 9/1 being “key day” for a large percentage of apartments. There aren’t free parking spaces on Comm Ave or Baystate Road like in the summer.

Things you hear and see: freshmen trying to figure out how to get from near Kenmore to FitRec in 10 minutes (good luck), groups of people standing around in front of Warren Towers, guys who ate their entire weekly meal allowance by Thursday, vegetarians trying to figure out where they should eat, people confused by the difference between convenience and dining points and whether they should switch dining plans, even the hours of the dining halls.

Freshmen are scattered all over. In the brownstones, you’ll find freshmen roomed with juniors. Danielson, which is on Beacon Street in Back Bay, is having a freshmen party on Monday because their freshmen are pretty isolated from the main horde.

Sounds hectic. I cant wait. Thanks for the info :)

All I can say is that I'm glad that I have been out of state for the bulk of move-in week. I did have to help my girlfriend move in on the 2nd, but my tiny car did a good job squeezing into a parking space on South campus (although sitting in traffic for so long does a good job eating gas).

Boston is wonderful. :]

The traffic around Kenmore has been totally <bleep>. They seem to be on a 10 year plan to build the new bus station and with only two lanes open inbound - one often blocked - traffic backs up through the intersections and you sit and sit and sit and sit and sit. Boston unlike NYC does not prevent people from "blocking the box," from jamming into an intersection on a red light. Some days the traffic just stops.</bleep>
