I know that they are required. However, will adcoms even glance at the application if SAT Subject Test scores aren't submitted? I really liked CMU, but I there is no way that I would be able to score a decent, competitive score on the Subject Tests. I go to a very rural high school, and the curriculum is not near as intensive as required for the tests.

Read [this page](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University). Depending on which school you are applying to within CMU, the subject tests might not be required. If they are required though and you choose not to send anything, your application will not be considered completed and you will receive no response.

I would be applying to H&SS, where they are required.

Eh. I think you should definitely take those tests. Tips on prepping can be found in the SAT II forum or you could buy a SAT II prep book (Barron’s is nice) and self-study/do the practice problems - and if you don’t understand anything, google is your friend. XD

Also, SAT IIs are kind of standard when applying to most colleges, so…

For CC, it might be common to take the SAT Subjects. However, there’s only a select number of colleges that require them if you also take the ACT.

I just don’t want to impact my chances at colleges that require all scores are sent, especially if I do terribly.

I believe with the new score choice you can pick and choose which ones to send.

Also, looking at your past posts, you’ve gotten a 2130 on your SATs which means you can’t be that bad at standardized test-taking/studying. And looking at your posts, most of the colleges you seem to want to apply to require SAT IIs as well.
