So I'm still trying to clear up everything I have to do, and the last two things I have are the official transcripts and the IGETC certification. I just finished my finals on Monday and went to the Transfer Reception ceremony my community college was hosting. All I received was a certificate of transfer and some medal. Where do I get this IGETC certification? I intend on delivering it ASAP. Should I walk to my transfer center tomorrow to see what I have to do? It could be that half of my professors haven't given their final grades out yet.

I’ll probably wait a week or so just to let the professors finalize the grades before sending the transcripts/IGETC certification but do drop by tomorrow to hear what the transfer counselors have to say.

IGETC certification usually happens when they are mailing out your final transcripts.

Usually, when requesting those transcripts, there is a small check box that says ‘IGETC certification’ and it will be noted on them, it’s as simple as that!

I thought it was more complicated, but I talked to my Honor’s Counselor…and yep! All there is to it…[:

Wouldn’t it be more complicated if you use HS classes to fulfill the foreign language requirement? You’d need your HS transcripts sent to the CC first.

^
Uh…before you even register to CCC you have to send in your HS transcripts so that’s pretty much a given.

^^ that’s not true at all.

“Admission to De Anza College is open to anyone (subject to the Residency Requirements) who has a high school diploma, a General Education Diploma, a proficiency certificate, or is at least 18 years old and shows evidence of being able to benefit from the instruction offered by the college.”
[Admission Requirements](http://www.deanza.edu/admissions/admreq.html)

You’re not required to have attended high school to enroll at a CCC so why would they require you to send in transcripts before you can register?

Experiment is right. The only reason I sent mine when I first started to attend a CC was bc i knew they would need them to verify that I’ve completed the foreign language req.

And it isn’t complicated at all. Go to your HS have them send your transcripts to ur CC then once they get them when you order a transcript you check a box asking for IGETC certification.

They did it for me because they have to make sure I wasn’t an HS student anymore (they make them fill out another whole sheet which the school has to sign) so I could register for more than 8 units.

I forgot that I even submitted my HS transcripts when I first entered CC. So they kept it on my record, meaning I won’t have to jump through hoops to recontact my HS to get transcripts sent yet again?

I was taking CCC courses while in HS and they got my transcripts long ago. Even when I decided that I would be going to a private uni freshman year, I never had to send in another one because they already had mine on file (thank goodness because I never want to go to my HS again, jk. it’s busy all the time) [:

not if they already have it…

My CCC had me fill out a form to petition for my IGETC certifcation. The evaluations officer told me it was not automatic. Furthermore, to have foreign language requirements fulfilled from my high school the CCC needed my high school transcripts. Otherwise the school would only send a partial IGETC certification to UCSD

Again, it all depends on the CCC. && there is no such thing as “partial” IGETC, you either have it or not. Supposably Cal is very strict on IGETC, unless your major doesn’t require it tho.

Wait wait. So my CCC should send it when I request the final transcript? My CCC’s transfer center stopped its counseling portion, so I actually couldn’t go. It gives out the final transcripts online, and to request for the mailing, I have to go online and do it.

there should be a section when filling out a transcript request that says “IGETC certification” or something along those lines. you’ll want to check it and they will send it with your final transcripts.

Ah ic. Yeah I was reading my IGETC sheet to make sure, and on the bottom, it said “It is recommended that all IGETC requirements be completed prior to transfer. If you are unable to complete one or two IGETC
courses in the final term before transfer, you may be eligible to complete IGETC after transfer, providing that those courses are not
among those required for admission. See your counselor for more information.
Certification is not automatic, and must be requested after the completion of the last term prior to transfer. This request should be
made in the Admissions and Records Office.”

So I’m assuming that I have to WAIT for my grades since all of my classes were part of the req. Thanks though!

Your welcome; and yes once final grades come out for this semester and youll be set to send transcripts w/ IGETC certification.
