i know you guys aren't my counselors, but any advice on which classes to take my first year? thanks guys...

come on guys..any advice at all.... = )

go grab the igetc, pick the classes that look intresting to you from each section, making sure that were possible they overlap with your major prep.

Do what she ^ said. There's really no special order that we can tell you about. One thing that I would look at is the Berkeley catalog entry for the major. Make sure that you take classes that will prepare you for the upper division classes you want. For example in Economics, Assist only lists Calc 1 & 2 as pre-reqs. After I got accepted and looked at the classes I realized that there were a handful of classes that required Calc 3 & above, so now I'll be playing catchup in the fall.

<------She

just do the Assist.org classes that prepare you for your major, and finish the igetc. finishing the igetc and the requirements for your major will make you an excellent applicant. you dont have to finish these things before you apply either, you should be in the process of completing them before you apply. remember, in order to transfer you must have over 60 units and under a certain number in order to be eligible as a transfer student. talk to counselors frequently!

Yep. Everyone's right (: Just make sure you are aware of how many classes you'll need to take. Depending on your major, you may have to take a lot of pre-requisites in these classes, so try to get those over with as soon as possible. Good luck!

Be sure to take your foreign lang. early on if you are PEIS intended...4 semesters is alot...

THANK YOU SO MUCH (to everybody) i appreciate the advice...

and to fourstar: i really dont want to take a foreign language in college so i dont know what i'm going to do..i've completed up to AP spanish in high school and i'm already fluent in Persian (Farsi)...so i want to figure out a way i can avoid that...i know that once i get into berkeley, i can clear that language requirement, but i guess the problem will be that it won't be cleared until after i'm admitted so i dont know...

i cleared the IGETC foreign language requirement by taking 2 or more years of foreign language in high school and earning at least a C during the last semester taken

yea..i'm set in terms of the igetc foreign language requirement (bc i took 4 years in hs and went up to AP)...but that doesn't clear me for my major requirement...(which requires basically prove of knowing a second language at college level)
