IGETC Question..

For UC Davis, do you have to have the IGETC or UC Davis GE completed to transfer there? Or can I just take the classes for my major and any classes I want to get up to 60 transferable units?

You just need to complete the minimum transfer requirements: [University of California - Minimum admission requirements](<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors)

Unless you have many major requirements to worry about such as in engineering, it would be worth your time to try and align at least some of your other classes with either pattern.

You should do IGETC. It will cover more UCs and give you more options in terms of which schools you can apply to. You cannot just take random classes (including those for you major) and just transfer with 60 units. You need to follow some kind of GE pattern.

No, you should do your major prerequisites first and foremost. Then, highly recommended courses. Then, IGETC. Unless you are applying for TAG which requires IGETC or your major requires IGETC, it should be at the bottom of your to do list.

According to the listings in [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) , IGETC for UC Davis is only recommended for bachelor of arts degree programs in the College of Letters and Science; presumably, this means that other degree programs have breadth requirements that are not fulfilled by IGETC.

You may want to look up those breadth requirements to see if you can take courses that articulate to them if you need more courses after taking those needed for your major. Some such courses may overlap with IGETC requirements that you may be trying to cover for other campuses.
