IGETC/ units question

So I'm picking my classes for winter and spring semesters, and a few questions popped up in my head.

I'm planning on transferring to a UC (Berkeley most likely) with an associates degree and I was looking into it and both require a minimum of 60 units, correct? And IGETC gives you about 30 or so I believe?

I am planning on completing this in less than a year, and I was going to go about it by trying to get classes that are required (elegible?) both by the IGETC and the associates. For example ENG 1 is required by both, Film Studies is elegible by both, so on so on. My question is, if I go about it this way, does taking the Film Studies give me credits separately for both IGETC and AA? Like if I have 10 units and take Film Studies to cross out whatever requirement is needed on both ends, will it accumulate to 13 or 16 units? I'm mainly concerned about this because I'm wondering if it'll end up making me have less than the 60 units that I need to get, and then I have to take more classes to get those last units, does that make sense? Because if it's the case I rather get two different classes that will interest me more and fill the requirement, than having one class that fills for both, but I'll still have to take another class.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense or if it seems like a pretty obvious question, but I just want to make sure. Thank you! :D

ALSO!!! I know since I passed one of my AP Spanish test it removes some classes in the IGETC, does this also apply for the language requirement in the AA degree?

The units will only count one time, but it’ll meet requirements for both your AA and IGETC. So if you take English 1 and it’s worth 4 units you will only ever get 4 units total for that class. Taking the class will fulfill requirements for both IGETC and for your AA, but the units are counted only once.

you don’t need an AA, just take the classes required for UC or CSU transfer.

although you might want an AA-T for CSU
