If i don't complete the foreign langauge portion of the IGETC by spring prior to transfer, will i get rejected to UCLA? I want to take spanish 1 at smc over this coming winter, but i'm afraid that the classes will be full. Can anyone please give me feedback?

you will be rejected

if you took foreign language in high school you could use that instead

yea but i only took one year not two. I’ve heard of people transferring to UCLA without completing IGETC, but i wanted to know if it is true or not

As i understand it, you can also take a proficiency test at a UC campus, which i’m assuming has to be done before you apply. But that’s cutting it kind of close, specially if you only took i year of a foreign language in high school.

^
That won’t count for IGETC AFAIK. The only ways you can meet the foreign language req for IGETC are:

Take an exam for credit at a CC.

Take the course and get a C.

AP/high school.

I know this, I asked 2 counsellors. I’m taking spanish just to get rid of the requirement, though I’m bilingual already.

My CC won’t check off the foreign language requirement just because there’s no one in my school that is qualified to test me for the language I speak.

I went to HS abroad btw.

UCLA is a very competitive school and therefore will not consider your application without your language requirement.

I went to SMC also- try another language that will perhaps have a lower demand? Also, keep in my mind that there are a lot of professors that are willing and wanting to add students who try to crash their classes- mainly because a lot of enrolled students dropped after a few weeks.
