How does this sound on the "comments" section?

Since I won't have foreign language done, this is what I've written.

"I only need foreign language to fulfill IGETC. I will finish this requirement in May when I take the AP Spanish Exam offered through my high school. I completed AP Spanish but that did not fulfill the requirement because it was only one year."

Sounds ok to me. But remember you won't technically finish the requirement in May because it takes some time before you get your results.

You better make sure that AP exam scores come out before the IGETC certification deadline.

I don't expect my scores to be used in the decision process; the test is after they release their admissions results anyway and results come out in July. I'm just hoping that this will help them to see that I will have it done once I start if they choose to accept me-- kind of as a reassurance.

Thanks you guys! I submitted it so now it's official. :D

the thing is that if they accept you but your ap exam scores don't come in until after the igetc certification deadline then you're admission can be rescinded for not meeting the igetc certification deadline. Also, couldn't you just take the spanish placement exam at your CCC? This would place you out of the igetc requirement if you placed in a high enough spanish class.

Thanks for that suggestion. Unfortunately, I asked and tried rephrasing my question to the counselor that was helping me with it and they referred me to an IGETC sheet and said she wasn't aware of such exams... I will try to get that done though.

IGETC is not a requirement for admission. And your CC certifies the IGETC thing, i had to do it post acceptance because I did not know that i had to go and ask my CC for an IGETC thingy to begin with.

But isn't a foreign language required for humanities/social science majors?

I just checked and no, my CCC doesn't accept anything but AP, IB, Achievement Tests, HS or 2nd year classes.

oh well my CCC says that they offer a language placement test that you can use for the IGETC so i thought yours did too.

Nickthecoolest, in your CC if you took a Spanish placement test and tested into Spanish 3, they would not certify IGETC for you?

That is weird and stupid.

My cc also did the same thing, if you test into it than you essentially can use it to satisfy requirements but not for credit
