I'll be leaving high school with 12 APs and 1 IB, how much buffer does this give me for a lower GPA?

Hi,

I’m currently a junior but I’m worried about my college admission chances. My goals is Ivy level if possible. (Probably not)

My main question is this:

I will be leaving high school with 12 AP classes and 1 IB class. Because of this schedule my grades aren’t all As which disappoints me greatly, but how much “wiggle room” do I have on my GPA because of the AP/IB/Honors based schedule?

What’s your GPA?

My school calculates weighted grades by having a extra point added to AP/IB

Freshman:
Weighted: 4.0
Unweighted: 3.857

Sophomore:
Weighted: 3.71
Unweighted: 3.57

Junior (In progress):
(If I manage to pull my grades up to all A this year this would be a weighted grade of 4.57)
Weighted: 3.9
Unweighted: 3.43

Total:
Weighed: 4.0
Unweighted: 3.62

Do I even have a chance to get past IVY GPA filters?

First of all, unless you’re GPA is utter trash, the Ivy league does not have GPA cutoffs. I had a 3.52 and took 14 AP classes and was deferred at Cornell. although it wasn’t an acceptance(yet :D) they could’ve rejected me if they actually had a GPA cutoff. You need to ace your junior year classes and pull that UW GPA for this year up and I think you’ll be fine. If your test scores and/or extracurriculars are exceptional you still have a shot at great colleges.
