Cornell
UC Berkeley
Wesleyan
Swarthmore
Pitzer College
etc.

Grades:
So far it's about 93 unweighted. Weighted it will be something like 96. I took AP World last year and I got a 5, and I am taking five APs this year and a few more senior year, expecting to do well.

SATs:
2170-
780 CR
700 M
690 W
Though I'm still waiting for January scores.

SAT IIs:
So far, only Hebrew 800

ECs:
for junior year
Sports editor of high school newspaper [would've most likely become EIC next year]
PR of GSA
Member of Thespian Club (inducted upcoming spring most likely)
Peer Leader (selective school program, work every wednesday with freshmen, special class)

Why I'm a weird case:
Well, first off I immigrated to the US from a foreign country at age ten, completely oblivious to the culture and to English, and since then I've climbed up the language ladder to get 780 in CR. I'm actually supposed to be moving to a new school in California next year (my senior year), which will be my third high school so far. I'll lose all of the positions I have achieved so far in the past two years [I spent my freshman year at a different school, where I was chosen to become a Staff Writer for the number one high school newspaper in the nation), but my current counselor will write a rec for me and list all of my accomplishments in my current school.

Hmm… that is very interesting. I say you are in the high middle for acceptance. Swarthmore and Cornell might be a littttle more difficult though.

Your case is interesting and i’m sure colleges will take all of your struggles into account! You have a good shot and I hope you succeed.

My case isn’t really weird… it’s just very frustrating.

I’m half jewish half chinese… my mom is from Guam and my dad is from Russia. My grades SUCKED until 3rd trimester of senior year. really really sucked… i think i had like a 2.6 or so. But since 3rd tri i’ve received a 3.6? a 3.4 and this tri i’ll probably get either a 3.5 or 3.7… so an upward trend right?? i already sent in all my apps… but i want to write them a letter explaining how i’ve changed maturity wise. That i now see school as an opportunity rather than a drag. Do you think this will help at all?? Talk about how my poor grades really woke me up and in a way i’m glad, because they showed me what actual work is?

I applied to Fordham… my number one… by far…
skidmore… i’d go.

gadiii - my D also scored 2170 (740 CR, 650 M, 780 W) and was accepted to UCB and Pitzer. What do you want - a small liberal arts school or a big state university? A visit after acceptances came out convinced my D she wanted a smaller school…
Good luck! You’ll do fine.

You definitely can get into all the schools you listed with your gpa. SAT score is i would say good enough, and your gpa is great. Try to become more involved though in EC’s and community service.

Very impressive SAT CR! I’d say you’re in at Berkely, Wesleyan, and Pitzer. Cornell is a low reach and Swarthmore would be a reach. You have a really great track record, though, considering your background. The fact that you’ve risen to such leaderships positions in such a short time makes you all the better candidate for colleges. Good luck!
