I'll have a decent GPA but...

...it wouldn't be that many classes.

I am a transfer student to the school I now attend (Duke), and a lot of the "core" courses like the "hard" sciences and lots of English (my major) courses, I took at my previous school (a community college).

I am a junior now and although I'm taking half of the required English classes here at Duke, I am concerned that this may play against me in the law school admissions process. I was told that they will not be able to see what the GPA from my previous school (which is similar to what I have here), and when I apply they would only have my grades for two semesters.

Would this play against me? Thank you in advance.

you were given incorrect info. Law schools will see all your grades. Transcripts from both the community college and Duke will be sent to LSAC/LSDAS as you will have to provide that info – and your overall GPA will be calculated based on all grades. That’s the gpa the law schools will receive. All undergrad transcripts/grades must be forwarded to LSAC for GPA calculation.
