Illegal immigrants.

I agree with ur comment Grisam. Your parents would have to be Americans too, no matter where you are born in the world. BillyMc, why do u not understand this?

I AM NOT anti-immigration. BUT I AM ANTI-ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

You said they pax taxes (and most of them do), but they can’t. The last two statements contradict each other.

^^^ I’m an example. Born in Italy, both parents American citizens, also possess Italian citizenship. English is my first language. FULL AMERICAN.

And I love my country. So Blackbanana, come up with something logical to say.

And anyone born in the United States is a citizen. Whether their parents are rich or poor, White or Hispanic, citizens or not.

My parents are only citizens because they were born here. Their parents are only citizens because they were born here. And so on. Eventually, I have ancestors who were born in America first-generation, without US citizen parents. So they weren’t really citizens? So, down the line, my whole family is full of “illegals”?

You would be correct… as long as the parents are married. The waters a bit muddied if the parents are not married.

So you consider most illegal immigrants to be American-hating dirtbags.

MITHopeful. Ur situation is exactly whatim talking about. You are an American because your parents were Americans. The fact that you were born in Italy does not matter.

I would not call them dirtbags, but I am not so sure that ‘American-hating’ would be incorrect. They show no respect for our laws or society as well as conspicuously bypassing those “in line” the legal way. If you truly admired the American Ideals and the American Dream, you could find it in yourself to obey the laws set down to make these ideals possible.

Yes, people who risk their safety to come to America to feed their families because they believe that America is the land of opportunity must really hate the country.

^They love what this country can do for them but do not love America itself.
“And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country”

Yeah, that’s the spirit, John Kennedy hated poor minorities seeking a better life. Oh, and I thought you said they weren’t Americans. Oh, and saying what “they” “love” is over-generalized and unsound logically. But what does loving America entail? Wanting to be here? Believing that the Constitution is the law of the country? Or is it paying taxes? They pay some, but I’m sure they’d pay all (unlike so many slick corporate CEOs) their taxes if they were documented. And it would protect their rights.

I think the situation can be spun in many different ways, but you have to look at the basics. They are violating laws. They are taking jobs and money from legal Americans. They are getting faster access to the country than those, who actually bother to follow our laws.

Whatever their circumstances, it comes down to a lack of respect for America, Americans, and legal immigrants. I do not think that makes them deserving of citizenship.

Really? Prove that.
Most farmers down south will tell you that they have never had a legal American offer to pick grapes in their fields for $8 an hour.

Show me differently.

Would you pick fruit for a fraction of legal minimum wage? Undocumented workers are used for jobs like this because they’re even cheaper than the machines. But the machines are cheaper than fair wages and benefits. And the economic exploitation that is their lot in life leads to lower food prices, meaning “legal Americans” pay less than they otherwise would. And “legal Americans” who benefit on social security and services paid through taxes get the full benefit of the system, while undocumented workers who often pay into the system can’t benefit. Someone’s getting robbed here, someone’s getting exploited (more like 12 million+ someones), but I don’t think it’s “legal Americans”.

I am aware of this. However, there are some nations that do not allow for automatic citizenship for all born within their borders - I was simply making an observation.

On the contrary, it depends on Mexico’s citizenship laws. If, like Denmark, it requires that the father is a citizen, then the child would not be a Mexican citizen. However, if like America, it provided citizenship to all born within its borders, then the child would possess dual citizenship (again, assuming that Mexico allows such - some countries, like Haiti, do not).

There’s a problem with our immigration system if it’s easier to travel here illegally, don’t you think?

A girl told Michelle Obama at a Q and A in Maryland that her mother was illegal. This girl was at public school: thus using tax payers money when they are illegal immigrants.

Reports have said that illegal immigrants receive welfare payments under false personas.

Between fighting crime caused by illegal immigration, education costs, welfare, etvc. Arizona spends an extra $2 billion a year. That comes from tax payers.

San Francisco Chronicle says that Mexican families send back $6-8 billion to Mexico. It is also said that, because the ‘direct and indirect costs’ of the illegal immigrants are paid by Americans, this is almost a form of foreign aid- that Americans are being forced to give out.

I can go on…

^^^Once again the 14th amendment does not allow and it never has allowed automatic citizenship even if you are born in our borders. Unfortunately most Americans believe it does.

^ Including the Supreme Court which INTERPRETS the laws.

Actually, it does.

Children are “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Simply because the parents aren’t citizens doesn’t mean the children born here aren’t. You’re mistaken.

Furthermore, this is a disingenuous argument. Try to come up with something original- or at least logical, eh?
