Illinois ACT Thread. Silverturtle, want to help get a full list? = D

I put digression and tone too…but I was stuck between that and the visualize one.

Not well, but meh.

what about the punctuation on englsih… for the lamp, or deep
what was it supposed to be?

“Lamps, or deeps,”

because deeps is another word for lamps, not a different object entirely.

(i think)

Derek – I think I got a 33, but it’s quite possible I’ve over/underestimated by a point. I felt like I got 34-36ish on math, english, and reading, but probably 27-29 on science because of the conflicting viewpoints part… I can never do those. And the essay I probably got like a 7 because I could only think of one strong argument and one significantly weaker one, probably because I was so bummed out about the science.

Edit: And I put visualize for the lamp one but I was confused also.

You are correct.

What did the girl that was moving find ironic and what was the area of the triangle and it gave 3 coordinates

EricR - She felt it was ironic that her friend considered himself her “protector”, despite the girl being the one who often protected him.

Something do with the friend’s (see, ACT? You need possession there :)) thinking that she was his protector.

what about the math question where the distance between to points had to be like 2 on one side and 5 on the other.

^ I put that it had to be a point.

what about the math question where the distance between to points had to be like 2 on one side and 5 on the other.

^ Was that the one where one of the answer choices was a sphere?

@cribelle

Yes it was something about the radius of a sphere or something

^^^ Point is correct. From point A to point B is 5 units. 3 units from A and 2 units from B on the line segment would be a point (:

It was A and B are 5 units apart, where is A 2 units away and B 3 units away. I think the correct answer would be 2 points, but I have no clue if that was an option, nor what I put, for this was one that I frantically guessed on.

Is it alright to discuss the writing portion of the ACT here, too?

I really hate ACT writing prompts. They’re so boring.

I was surprised at how quick the 30 minutes for the essay went by… My second point (third paragraph) was seriously lacking in substance… Maybe only 5 or 6 sentences…

Anyway, did most people agree that teens should write articles?

My points were the resulting author/audience connection through similar experience/viewpoints attributed to being of the same age, and my other point which I spontaneously thought of midway through writing (poor approach, I know) was that young people that saw their peers being part of something like a successful magazine would be influenced to work harder and develop similar aspirations of success.

The prompt was horrible :frowning: I don’t read teen magazines so I knew nothing about them. Super weak essay D:

I said yes because teens can better write about their own generation than an adult could, it would give teens a place to publish their work, and it would encourage creativity.

@Kanan

I felt the same way too.
