I got this email can someone tell from experience what it means and how is the experience?

You are invited to participate in our Engineering at Illinois Summer Scholars program, June 7-August 4, in Urbana-Champaign!

This is a leadership and academic program, giving you the opportunity to grow and develop skills, get hands-on engineering experience, and start earning college credits.

You, along with a cohort of students, will take 6-8 credits, which includes a Projects course and a course of your choosing. Throughout the program there will be several workshops, activities, and events that will acclimate you to the university, form friendships and bonds, and equip you with engineering and leadership skills.

I got the same e-mail too! Honestly, it sounds like a great opportunity to become introduced to the campus, but it would take up your entire summer. As a senior, don’t you want to spend time with all your friends before you all split ways? I think it sounds like a great opportunity to get a class out of the way for a lighter first semester, but is that worth not being home all summer?

That’s exactly what i was thinking and i feel especially being oos it is too far, and i will literally have no opportunities to get back to the east coast

yah, i live in illinois and i was worried about making it back home lol. and we’re going to be in college for at least four years; theres no need to start 2 months earlier.

I feel the same way as you guys, I think it looks like a cool opportunity, but I’m pretty sure it’s just starting college early. Plus it looks like you’re still charged for tuition and room and board, so there’s not really any financial incentive to it…

I also live two hours away, but if I left earlier than necessary I think my girlfriend would murder me. :0

exactly… room and board is probably crazy expensive. but it would be cool to meet some engineers there like soon! i think its so cool meeting people that are going into the same major. I wish there was a facebook group just for engineers for class of 2016; we should make one lol
