Illinois Wesleyan BFA Musical Theatre

What is the Lab theatre, how many does it seat and how do I get there?

Thanks.

The Lab Theatre is the larger of our 2 black box theatres. It seats different amounts depending on the show that is performing in it. It is right next to McPherson Theatre and connected to Presser Hall. By how to get there, do you mean directions? If so, where are you coming from?

For specifics on WORKING and directions to the theatre, feel free to call the box office at 309.556.3232 and/or the theatre office at 309.556.3944.

Ps. I think we offer one complimentary ticket to prospective students. Call Theatre Recruiting for assistance at 309.556.3944.

Hope this helped :-)

LOTS of IWU info if you have a facebook. It is updated daily with info, pics, and more!!

Where is the best dorm for a freshman MT student to live?

I'm an IWU Theatre BFA alum from way back. Programs have long been excellent in theatre and music as well as art. Music theater was just getting started when I was there. It's great place for a well-rounded education.

Other outstanding alums fine arts:
Kevin Dunn - now playing the dad on "Samantha Who"
Dawn Upshaw - renowned Grammy-winning soprano
Stefanie Faracy - frequent character actress

Nice to see others post on this thread! My D is going to attend this fall as an MT major. I noticed the facebook site link above, hey Bearfan can you get any of those people to post here? Good to hear from you tango14.

I would say that a good place to live would be Gulick Hall. Sorry for the late response. :-) Welcome to IWU!

Hey, everyone...I am the Music Theatre Liaison at IWU. If you have any questions about the MT program feel free to ask.

Oh does that bring back memories. I lived in Gulick for 3 years. Second floor, right over the grand piano in the lounge. It is well situated on the campus and probably the closest dorm to McPherson as well as close to the Student Center.

I always appreciated the closeness for walking back to the dorm after late rehearsals. Or sleeping in until the last minute the next morning and still making it to class on time!

What about Dolan for a freshman. D1 will not be a MT major, but is interested in stage crew. Has participated for 4 years in HS and was stage manager. Does IWU welcome non-majors as active participants in the shows?

Don't know much about Dolan because in my day it was a guy's dorm. It is located on the opposite side of the quad from McPherson.

Dolan's got one of the larger rooms among the freshman dorms.

Thanks, Nurm. Your posts on the IWU forum have been most helpful. Good luck in grad school.

Pete0six - that's a good question (regarding stage crew). The freshman at IWU don't perform their first year and I'm sure that there are many Theatre majors that are there to do stage crew work. However, most productions could always use help. Hopefully someone from the school can hop on and answer this.
