i was wondering if anyone would be willing to shed some light on all the rumors regarding the freshman first semester schedule.

i hear the we are pre-enrolled in our core classes for first semester, so if i were to want to take Intro to Mandarin and Intermediate Spanish would I add the classes during orientation?

are we sent out pre-enrolled schedules before orientation?

also, would anyone recommend placing out of the Statistical Reasoning class for sophomore year?

stats is an easy A, so it will be good for your GPA if you take it. on the other hand, it's a waste of time, so you might want to place out, lol.

If it's still the same, you will be pre-enrolled in a few classes (such as ILR Colloquium, Org. Behavior, and possibly Labor History - it's random whether you'll take it first or second semester). After that, you enroll for electives/other classes during Add/Drop.
They are changing stats - it used to be 2 classes, then the past 2 years it was 1 class, but now it's 2 classes again. I don't know how placing out would work now, so I would ask that when you get there (I would do it, though, if you can - avoiding ActiveStats alone is worth it...)

Stats 21X with Velleman is a waste of time. I had AP credit, and I took a 2 credit Stats 213 class that dealt with multiple regression. We only had class for like a month of the semester and then there were no classes so that we could work on our single big project. It's not that hard, so I would suggest trying to place out. Either way, you will eventually take some form of stats class. It'll either be 210 and 213 in two semesters, or just a semester of 212. I don't know what it will be like for your year, but the AP Stats credit only gave 3/4 credits for the required 212 class, so you were forced to take 213.
