I'm a freshman in highschool . IS THIS A GOOD SCORE?

I am a freshman in highschool, and i took the SAT and got a 1710. Is that good for where i am right now? Also i still haven't taken geometry . . . that's next semester. I have already taken algebra and am currently taking algebra 2. If that has any relevance. Thank you in advance ((:

Yea I think that’s pretty good. National avg is only 1550s.

Thank you!

That’s good for a freshman. You can definitely improve from there especially since you will be taking higher math and english courses later on…

How did you do on each section?

you’re a freshmen.

it makes no difference what score you got right now. you’re retaking anyways.

640- Reading Comp
510-Math
560-Writing/Grammar

Its not bad for freshman, but you have a long ways to go. Once you get the hang of math, 800 is no prob. U seem pretty good at reading already, where most people have the most trouble with

That is excellent especially since you can get your math score up a ton.

Your reading is good for a freshman… You should be able to improve to 1900-2100 by end of junior or start of senior, but a 2250+ may be a reach for you unless the 1710 was a score with little or no practice.

And Stanford usually has most of their applicants above 2200 SAT.

Your scores are good for a freshman and CR is great for your age!

Yeah i had absolutely no practice. I’m starting a class and some prep-books now.

Nice job! It’s funny that you got a really good score because I just got my score for the ACT and they were pretty close. I got a 29 which is something like a 1900 on the SAT ( I think the SAT is probably harder though). I am also a freshman in high school and I didn’t study for the test and I am going in to algebra 2 this year just like you. (my math score was the worst, a 26) hopefully I’ll get better :). Good luck on reaching your goals and getting a higher score ( and going to Stanford).

That score is terrible. Stop trolling as you know its a good score. If it’s not your targeted score you’d want for the Junior year SAT, why would you want to know if its good or not?

He’s not trolling ^

1710 isn’t necessarily anything to brag about, no matter what age he is.

I believe he’s a ■■■■■. OP, if your intentions for this thread were good and you’re really asking a innocent question, I’m sorry for trolling you. Just stressed over PSAT prep.

@stanford, it’s a good score for your age, but not “excellent” as crystalJ put it. You have plenty of time to improve and you’re on the right track.

I hate sugar-coating, so I am going to be blunt with you. 1710 is not a desirable score, even for a freshman in highschool. The mid fifty percent of the freshman class at stanford and most prestigious schools has a score north of 2250. I am a junior at a nationally acclaimed private highschool, which send about a quarter of the graduating class to places like harvard, stanford and yale every year. I can tell you that each one of those kids not only has a gpa around 3.8 (my school is incredibly hard), but also has an sat score around 2300.

@cortana yeah you’re probably right

tbh stanford students probably got above 1900 in their freshman year…

I’m sorry but I strongly disagree.

I got an 1830 on the PSAT as a junior and went on to get a 2150 that same year.

A 1710 as a freshman is a great score and shows that there is room to improve which will happen as you study more advanced levels of math, critical reading, and writing. Don’t let yourself be discouraged by others.
