I'm a General studies major, should I take liberal arts classes?

I’m currently finishing up my first semester at a community college, and now that spring semester class sign ups are rolling around, I’m confused as to whether or not I should take certain classes…

Since I’m an undeclared major I chose to use my first semester to just finish up general core class requirements such as science, math, communication, social science, and english, while I look further into what kind of major that I am interested in (Right now I am a bit interested in business, computer science, and medicine).

I chose not to take any of the liberal arts classes (history, philosophy, language, religion, and literature) that are required by my school for my major, since I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to major in anything that revolves around or needs those classes (Maybe with an exception of language).

When I spoke to my academic counselor about this, she not only barely answered any of my questions, but just abruptly ended our session telling me that I should just take the required liberal arts classes for spring semester since apparently most majors require them (Is this true?).

To be honest, I really don’t want to take any classes that I will end up not needing since it will be a huge waste of time and money for me (my family has a really tight budget). I personally am not interested in entering into any liberal arts field, so is it necessary for me to take the liberal arts classes that are required by my school for my major? Or is it better to just not take them?
