Do they just give ISO letters to non-citizens too?

An email I got this morning congratulated me once again (which feels great :D) but goes on to read, "Our [International Studies Office wants to make sure that you will have a successful experience and will do all they can to provide information, counseling, and updates. If you have questions about the information form, about visa requirements, or about anything else..."

Which makes my head boggle because I had clearly put down my alien registration number of my green card on the application form; I don't know why I would be contacted about visas. Also, I wonder if this implies anything about financial aid.

I just realised I'm not sure if they meant visas from the US to other countries, in this case the email would apply to everyone else. Or something. Well, I would like to get some reassurance on this.

Call them up and ask, galoisien. The ISO makes a huge effort to make sure that all international students at UVA are prepared to deal with the full range of challenges that they might face. For you, those challenges might be insignificant.

ISO has a new form they want a large group of students to fill out. Though they want it mailed to Admission, it's an ISO form and that office can answer questions about it.

You should confirm that you're considered a domestic student. As long as you can still apply for U.S. scholarships and financial aid, you should be fine.

Oh hmm, I realise what this is now. Proof of legal residency, etc.

They wouldn't mind me sending a photocopy of a card that was expired 9 December 2007, I hope? My PR status never expires, just that the government wants to force everyone to constantly renew the cards in order to update the technology on them. (The only problem is that it would be a hassle to fly in and out of the country.) The reason why I haven't renewed yet is that it costs several times the admission deposit to even begin the process, and it's an extreme hassle even applying for a fee waiver to the US government. But we're definitely legal residents.

I got the same email as well, although I am a permanent resident (w/ a green card). However, I'm still getting emails from them about scholarships and I did receive financial aid.
