I'm a newb on Recs

So I have two teachers that will write me recs. Should I just ask them to write me a letter? Theres also a section of the transfer common app "instructor eval." is this the same thing?

Basicly, when people say "I have great recs" did they get a teach to fill out the instructor evaluation or just write them a letter?

I dont wanna send in the Evals and letters, its just one right?

To write a good letter, you need to provide the profs enough background information on yourself that they can adequately attest to your most recent academic ability.

right, but I was more asking if the "letter of rec" is the same as the "instructor evalution".

Yes, the Instructor Evaluation form is what you use for your recs.

Profs can fill out the form and type the text of their letter of rec right on the form. Or you can just fill out the basic information on the form, give it to your prof and s/he can attach the Letter of Rec to the form.

Also, it is courteous to provide the profs stamped/addressed envelopes. And, as surf says, provide them a resume/transcript/whatever might help them round out their knowledge of you.
