I'm about to turn down UNC.

I waited months to hear from UNC, and I found out I was accepted in January. This afternoon though, I plan on accepting my acceptance to NC State University. I just feel like I fit in better with the people I've met there, not to mention they have a strong chemical engineering program. I'm going to do the honors program there too.

I don't really know why I'm telling you all this, but if anyone has any last-minute reasons why I should choose UNC over NC State, shoot them at me. The cost is pretty much the same...I haven't gotten any scholarships yet.

If you haven’t gotten your financial aid yet from UNC, I would hold off until then. You never know :D

Go with your gut. I know a couple of my friends are turning down Chapel Hill in favor of less prestigious colleges simply because they’ve visited the campus and just didn’t like the “feel” or don’t think they’d fit in with the kind of student Chapel Hill attracts.

Definitely wait for financial aid, make sure you research each school thoroughly, and (if you haven’t already) VISITING, and maybe even taking a tour, is an absolute must.

When you have all the information, line up your choices again and make your decision. Your “feel” for the college is just as important as many other factors so don’t be afraid to go with it.

I picked State over UNC, same reasons basically. No reason to go to UNC if you’re intent on doing engineering, unless you get the Morehead or something.

Just be certain that you are content with the other programs State offers, just in case the engineering doesn’t work out.

I did it. I’m so relieved…no more worrying. NC State has a good chem dept, so I have that to fall back on just in case. I’m going to be in the honors program too, which is really cool.

NC State= Engineering

You seem to be making the right choice!

I thought I was going to do the same (I was going to be a textiles major at state) until I got into UNC. I loved State when I visited, but after my first visit to UNC I fell in love. I also decided that a textile degree just isn’t that practical (I was going into the fashion part), so the business program at UNC would be a better fit. My boyfriend is transferring to State, so I’ll still be at the campus quite a bit. I like State, but for me UNC was a better fit.

Yes, like mmas said, NC State is the engineering school in this state. If you want to do engineering, go to State. Anything else, go to UNC! :)
