I'm a slightly below average student in my eyes and while people are telling me that I'll get in everywhere I apply, I know that isn't realistic.

I've taken the SAT's already but got a horrible score(1600, I think) but I'm taking them again in both November and December. I hope to get around 1900 but at least 1800 to be safe.

I took only 1 AP in Junior year(US History) but this year I'm taking 3(Calc, Lit and Gov) along with a college level course(Presentational Speaking).

My GPA is around a 90 and hopefully will go up this year.
My college essay is strong(according to a few of my teachers) and it's about me being biracial.

But it seems that I have fallen in love with schools strongly out of my reach.

Boston University
Northeastern
Temple
University of Delaware
NYU(I don't even think I should apply here anymore)
Pepperdine
George Washington
American

Am I really pushing my luck? All my schools seem impossible for me to get into even though my guidance counselor and parents think I'll get into a few(aren't they supposed to say that?). PLEASE HELP

Your gpa of 90 equates to a 3.5 according to this [GPA Conversion Chart](Calculate Your GPA With Our GPA Scale | The Princeton Review) Not sure why you consider yourself slightly below average.
I don’t know these schools well but if you look at each college’s “applying” link at college board, you can see the distribution of GPAs and SAT scores. If you look at Temple, it says about 50% have sats in the 500’s (out of 800s) and 51% are in top quarter, and 89% in top half. So definitely not impossible.

Best wishes!

As long as you get around 1800 for you SAT I think you can make it except NYU.

Pepperdine is the odd one out - I’d expect to see Biola, Wheaton (IL), Houghton, Baylor, Calvin, Grove City, etc.
Why are people telling you you’re doing great (not that it’s false, but it may explain “context”, something colleges care very much about)? What’s the average SAT score at your school, for instance? Are you low-income, or first-generation?
Temple is a match, UDel is a safety (if you’re from Delaware), the others are reaches. You should try and find 2-3 other matches and one more safety (school that you like, can afford, and are sure you can get into.)

BU - high match/low reach
Northeastern - high match
Temple - match/high match
Delaware - match
NYU - reach
Pepperdine - high match
GWU - high match
American - match
