I'm an IDIOT - Financial Aid crisis

Hey,

I'm a Running Start student that got into UW in february, then accepted into the UW Honors in May, but here's the best part:

I applied for financial aid, got full coverage by grants (despite work/study, but that can be taken care of), and FORGOT TO SEND IN THE CERTIFICATION FORM BACK. It got filed and for some reason I thought it was already done.

Now, I got an email last night that my entire financial aid application has been canceled, and that I get $0. Nothing. Nada. Poof. *** do I do now?

I'm gonna call them, but how do I convince them that I need the money back? I heard it's nearly impossible to get back any of the federal grants (which was half my grant amount, the other half was state need grant/leap)

I'm freaking out cuz I was depending on financial aid to pay, and I haven't applied for any scholarships yet. I've officially screwed myself over.

Any bright ideas?

Definitely call them back, and throw yourself at their mercy. Also, and maybe first, is there someone with the Honors program (admissions officer, counselor, advisor) that you can get on your side? You must be a very smart and promising student (despite needing a little help in doing paper work :) ), so they might be willing to put forth a little extra effort to make it possible for you to attend.

Also, look into summer jobs at UW -- the summer conference host jobs pay quite well (<a href="http://hfs.washington.edu/about_hfs/employment.aspx?id=509%5B/url%5D">http://hfs.washington.edu/about_hfs/employment.aspx?id=509</a> ). Maybe you can make enough this summer to give you a good start, have a during-the-schoolyear job on campus, take out loans for the rest of your expenses, and then get your grants etc. in place for the following years. Good luck and don't give up!
