** for orientaition if your staying over june 2-3 wat day do you need to get there. the 2nd or the 1st? **

June 1st on the evening. I personally checked out a hotel during my orientation days. In the orientation registration they will give you all the directions you need.

a. Extremely vague question. This heavily depends on your major, the department, and the teachers. If you are asking about class sizes the English classes (Comp I and II) have all had less than 25 students. However, a lot of GED classes will contain 300+ students (not 900+ from what I have seen) but people are generally quiet nonetheless.
b. This highly depends on the teacher. Yes, on the first day of class the teacher will hand out a syllabus with office hours. Go to the office hours if you ever have any trouble and the professor will be more than happy to help you usually.
c. It will satisfy your knowledge of math and it’s application in the real world and finding a job fairly easily UCF has a pretty good engineering program from my understanding and the engineering building is very new and polished.
d. I am assuming you mean one engineering program? I would guess so but generally all the engineering majors start off the same. If you have trouble deciding between an Engineering discipline look up the SLS classes for Engineering.
e. A club for… everything basically. If you can’t find a club you can make your own. There’s a lot of science clubs for any discipline, and I cannot name any off the top of my head except the Physics and Chemistry Clubs. There’s also Pre-Medical Clubs (at least four). I haven’t checked up on automotive clubs but if there is a club for Brazilian Music(not exactly a club every school would have) I’m sure there will be something auto related.
f. Maybe an hour to ninety minutes? I’ve never driven there myself. UCF and NASA have some relationship as I’ve gotten e-mails regarding internships and co-ops from NASA. That’s about all I can say though.
g. Yay girls! Yessir. Mostly in the Math and Science buildings and it dwindles a little more in the Engineering. There’s no shortage of women here >.>

**If Pinocchio said “My nose will grow” will it grow? (it grows when he tells A LIE) **
I guess? Since Pinocchio isn’t actually “living” his nose can’t grow, thus he’s lying?

h.Btw, what’s with all the tolls, lol… **

a.I share a bathroom and a shower with my roommate and two suitemates. Other dorms seem similiar to this but I know the Towers have Two Bedroom/Two Bathroom set ups. I think all the floorplans can be found on UCF’s housing page but in general you shouldn’t be sharing a bathroom with a lot of people. Single or double is a personal preference and same goes to roommate. Some people like to be alone and other may want company. It’s up to you to decide, but I’d personally go with a single. That’s just me as I can be very territorial lol
b. Oh yeah… you can party every night if you want to. There’s always something going on. UCF has their own website for parties here: [Knightlyfe.com - Your Night Life Connection.](http://orlandoden.ning.com/) but there are plenty more going on that are not listed on there. I went slightly off topic… there are small parties throughout the campus but all the “good ones” from my experience are off campus. I can’t comment at all on sororities, but the girls I’ve talked to that are in one enjoy it greatly. No curfew as far as I can tell but during finals week there is a “silence” meaning you can’t be loud at all for the courtesy or others studying.
c. I haven’t seen a “now hiring” sign really except for maybe once at the Marketplace. I can’t really answer as I generally work in my hometown during the weekends.
d. …Go home. Not going to lie but UCF still has that commuter school personality. I think the Academic Village is maybe half-sixty percent full during the weekends. There will still be people here but it’s wayyy more sparsely populated. People here study, or drink, but I also see a lot of club related activities going on still.
e. When you feel like it. I am pretty sure you can do it over myucf but if not you will have to go to the Registrar’s office in Millican Hall.
f. I love Disney! (Universal not so much). I don’t know anyone who has gotten an annual pass so I’m going to shelf this as a personal preference thing.
g. You can probably check that on travelocity
h. I dunno, probably because I answer them anyways :P

You’ve gotta pay for the roads in one way or another. You’ll find every road in Florida VERY well maintained unlike other states. And most states will just add the costs for infrastructure on to your taxes at the end of the year.

ALSO
Florida is a major tourist state, if they added the cost for road building on Floridian taxes, it would allow tourists to wear the roads and not pay for it. One way or another, things balance out. You need to find a road map of the Central Florida area and get accustomed to all of the highways and roads in order to dodge tolls.

In example, I can take the turnpike which costs $15+ from fort lauderdale to orlando and get there in 3 1/2 hours, or take 95 or us27 and have 4 hour trip instead. It all comes back to the way the turnpike was paid for (borrowed money). However, I find US27 to be a very enjoyable drive up past lake okeechobee and all the sugar cane farms.

Back to my point, get a roadmap, and learn how to avoid the costly tolls.

Thanks for answering! And oh, I meant the tolls that you have to pay, not ■■■■■■ on this website, lol. Thanks Travis for answering that too as well though. It’s just that I live in Jacksonville and there aren’t that many tolls except for around the airport area, so I was just wondering because when I visited last time, we had to pay quite a bit. And there’s that e-pass thing too… which I’ve never heard of before until I visited Orlando.

I’m thinking of investing in a GPS. I get totally lost when it comes to streets.

"‘Were there 4/4 vacancies in the Towers when you got there in the Fall or did you hear about that? I’m a incoming transfer so I’m on the standby list and we get last dibs.’

I personally can’t speak on this on the sole reason I have no idea. I would e-mail them and find out, but be patient because UCF likes to be slow sometimes regarding e-mail replies. I would check some off-campus housing just as back up because I know Towers are very very expensive. (From my experience Pegasus Pointe and Landing are BIG no-nos."

RE: I emailed them last week and they responded the next day. But I’ve been researching off-campus since before I applied, I just considered on-campus although, as you said, it is really expensive. I’ve received some recommendations from current students and a grad (if you have any please post them). And yep I’ve heard that the “Pegs” are horrible LOL.

Why are the pegasus awful? I have heard they have improved tremendously over that last few years. I also have asked students who are staying there and thay have been very positive. I am considering landings for my son and any info you could give me would be appreciated.

I hear a lot about noise complaints/parties/drug abuse/theft from those areas. In class I often hear some students talking about the latest story going on in Pegasus Pointe. One person has told me it’s not so bad except it’s DARK at night.

@both of you: Here is a link to read some reviews. If they don’t work let me know

I am from pakistan and perspective student for undergrad in civil or mechanical engg…
Can u tell about UCF’s engg programs cuz I didnt found UCF anywhere in the rankings…

P.S do tell about employment prospects and popularity of these majors…

** When taking morning classes, what time is the best to get good parking? **

As early as possible. 7AM and earlier if you want the absolute best times. 8-10 aren’t too bad but you may circle. Anything after 11 though will be hell.

UCF is ranked nationally in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science I believe. Their Mechanical and Civil engineering is a little quieter. I am fairly certain their Mechanical and Civil Engineering is just fine as Intel, Lockheed & Martin, and NASA hire UCF grads. About their actual classes and learning I cannot comment too much as I can only take their prereqs, but all your Pre-req classes will teach you from the engineering perspective.
About popularity, Engineering is extremely popular. In all of my classes are are maybe 2-3 Engineering majors (in my classes like American Government, Anthropology, and English).

What electrical appliances are already present in the Lake Claire 4/2 Apartments when first moving in? I went to the housing and residence life site and it is not listed there. Do you know if there is a toaster and microwave there or do the roommates need to bring one?

I am thinking of buying a commuter plan and having six meals provided by the college. To cover breakfast and lunch that I would make in the apartment kitchen, what kind of budget would I need?
Moksha, since you do not have a meal plan, do you mind telling me what type of budget you have for meals per semester?

Is there a ceiling fan in the bedroom? (Lake Claire)

When taking morning classes, what time is the best to get good parking?

I go MWF for 930AM classes, I usually get to parking structure D around 30 minutes prior for a class in Classroom Building 1 (CL1). The later in the morning you have class the harder it is to get parking, starting classes at 1030AM or 1130AM is just insanity. It might stink to get up for a 830am or 930 class but the aggravation you save in parking is well worth it.

To the flying out-of-state questions … D is a Freshman and flew home for Thanksgiving. She got a late Tuesday night flight and told her professors, as it turned out all her Wednesday classes were cancelled.

She also flew home for the Christmas break between Winter and Spring sessions. The flight was much less expensive because she flew home around 12/14 or so, at least a week or more because the higher airfares that come with Christmas. Same on the return, it was at least a week after New Years so the prices were less expensive than the holidays.

No ceiling fan and no small appliances (toaster, microwave, etc.) in Lake Claire. D is there now and they provide a full-size refrigerator and oven/stove. One of the girls brought in a microwave that she had. I supplied D with pots/pans/utensils/cups/glasses/coffee pot/baking dishes/storage containers, etc. etc. etc. The girls in her dorm have also used these items, too, which we don’t mind. When she is done with Spring semester, she’ll pack everything she brought, put it in storage, and use it again in Fall when she moves into an off-campus apartment with 3 other girls.

**But UCF is not even in the top 100 list of undergraduate engineering by peer assesment as well as by employer prospects…?? **

I guess not? I only skimmed over rankings as they don’t really matter to me. Back when I played WoW, my guild leader was an MIT graduated in Engineering and got the same job as someone who went to a state university. Your internships and co-ops matter much more than where you go.

c.Is there a ceiling fan in the bedroom? (Lake Claire) **
a. Not 100% sure but most likely not.
b. That is based on yourself and how much you eat. Maybe… 40 dollars a week? There are two wal-marts and a Publix or two in the general area near UCF so you should find some fairly priced groceries. If you budget. At the market place it’s all you-can-eat so you can bring food back to your apartment if you want to have some free future meals. My budget’s like 80 bucks per week provided by my mom since you asked haha.
