Thanks. Still have that question about the NCP.

Read the form again… carefully.

In question A2, you reported that you are married. Please report your current spouse’s relationship to the student in question A4a or correct question A2.

Stepmother or mother.

If my dad picks separated…then he would be lying since he is married to my mother.

If your mom is your dad’s current spouse…than then his spouse would be your MOTHER…right?

If he were remarried, his spouse would be your stepmother.

If he is NOT married, that question would not have popped up…because he would NOT have answered MARRIED to the question about marital status.

Yea my dad is married to my mom now but it only lets him pick either stepmother or stepfather. And the marital status “married or remarried” is the same option.

You must have made some mistake before that question.
Your dad is currently married to your mom, why the profile asks question about NCP?

I already submitted the CSS profile.
He lives in another country but he earns no income and relies on my mother to live.
Someone help mee o.o

I believe this poster is attempting to do the NCP Profile.

So let me amend MY response! If the poster is doing the NCP Profile…and his NCP is MARRIED…then the spouse would either be the step mother or the stepfather.

For the Profile, it seems that because the parents are still married, all should have been included on the regular Profile.

Call the college board and ask what to do.

You can also call the college…and ask what to do

I already contacted CB; gonna contact the colleges.
Anyways, does this mean that the required NCP may not be required?

No…that is not what it necessarily means. The college websites should clearly state if the NCP Profile is required.

They said it’s required if applicable. Alright, so is my dad the noncustodial parent or both are custodial parents? O.o

Try working through this with your parents married, and both custodial, but maintaining two separate households for work-related reasons. See if that helps.

Well I’ve already submitted the CSS profile and I put married on there. There’s no way to fill the NCP…I emailed Collegeboard…

Well…if you put MARRIED on the Profile, you would have NO need for a NCP profile…because both of your married parents info should have been on the regular Profile!

Well yea it did ask for both parents’ info but towards the end, I also filled out INFORMATION ABOUT NONCUSTODIAL PARENT (NP). I also did put when they separated but in the explanations page I said that my mom and I had to move to the US, that’s why they separated.

Also, if my dad doesn’t work and lives in another country he doesn’t need to send any tax returns to colleges right?

Does he have any tax returns?

Nope, he doesn’t work.
And I emailed Collegeboard and they gave me a generic response…I really don’t know what to do with the relationship option thing…

Well then, you’ve answered your own question, haven’t you? How can he provide what he doesn’t have?

By the way, at least in the United States, income tax returns often need to be filed by people who don’t have jobs. Think “investment income” or “unearned income”…

Yeah he doesn’t have anything like that in that country. Anyways, my dad is still stuck on the NCP…he picked married, remarried or in domestic relationship, but it makes him select relationship between me and his wife which is my biological mom, but stepmom (no other options). If he picks separated then it says that they’re not married.
