I'm good, right?

So I took the September ACT, my first ACT ever, and got a 35. (35E 33M(I ran out of time!) 35R 35S). But then I got my essay score, which was a 9, which made my English/Writing score a 32. I know the essay score has no effect on my composite, but I know colleges look at your composite, your English, your Math, AND your essay score, and I know my Math and essay score aren't up to par with the colleges I would like to go to. I want to apply to some top-20 colleges, so my question is this: am I good, or should I consider taking it again? I know that most people would say that there's no need, that its typical CC, and that I should focus on other things, and I'd like too, but without this ghost hanging over my head.

Thank you!

If that really bugs you, it wouldn’t hurt to take it again. 9 is kinda meh but 10 or 11 on your essay won’t drastically increase your chances.

If you are a senior, definitely do not waste your time retaking a 35. If anything, it would make you look poor for being so obsessive over a single point (regardless of your writing score. A 9 is not horrible whatsoever).

I’m a junior and I don’t want to obsess, but it is bothering me

Please don’t. If you get rejected, trust me when I say that it wasn’t because of your ACT score.
