Ok so here's the deal I'm a sophomore almost done with this semester and I'm seriously obsessed with researching and looking up colleges. I'm seriously doing this everyday and sometimes even during school (but during breaks) I'm super excited to go to college and not even to party and go wild but just to be there. Is it too early to be this excited? And please tell me I'm not the only one who's always researching about colleges haha

Topic is supposed to me: Am I the only one? Sorry for the error

I can’t say I’m like you. I only use cc for a place to talk with other nerds haha and only use hsl. The first time I ever did legit college research was during thanksgiivng break, but I’m glad I did, because now I’m loving georgetown.

I’m honestly not that psyched to go to college. I love high school.

I’m excited about going to college but I usually don’t research colleges because I’m scared of getting too attached to a specific college and then getting rejected.

goodnoodle…I just had a realization last week that I really don’t like high school. Maybe it’s just the classes I’m in right now (with the exception of English and history) but I feel like everyone is just so immature (not saying I’m the most mature person on Earth) and doing stupid stuff that’ll get them in trouble. Maybe this is a sophomore rut or something.

To the OP: Yeah, I guess. Not obsessed, but definitely scoping everything out. Ready to leave high school, not so much as to get to college. But yeah, getting a good idea I guess.

I’m starting to actually get the same feeling about getting to attached to this school that I’m researching about. I’m thinking about cutting it down a little but it has sorta been out of habit.

I was like that freshman year. I even toured Yale.

All of the colleges I thought I’d apply to, I didn’t. I couldn’t wait until senior year. Now I just want to go to college just to get out of this crappy state, and to meet new people. Your college list will probably change by the time you actually apply

Cem if you remember (since you seem to remember everything) I was in a rut a couple weeks ago too. (But I think mine was more of the opposite, with me being worried about the future and not wanting to leave high school because I like it so much and it’s really secure.) you’ll get over it. Maybe we wouldn’t get along because I only have two modes: really serious and completely immature idiot haha

@citygirl…what college?

@Rachel…haha, oh Florida. My mom lived in Florida (she was born in CT, ironic, huh?) until she moved out to go to college (Northwestern, lotsa snow) and she always says how she never liked Florida, too hot and all, and she lived in Miami, so it was pretty dang hot. She said it snowed one time, for like 5 minutes.

@Citygirl: I actually have some respect for someone like you who actually can sit down and research colleges. I’d be completely bored after awhile. Even on CC I skip most of the academic related hsl threads. But it might be a good idea to cut down.

@goodnoodle…haha, yes I remember. No, it’s just that most people are SO superficial. Like the other day in class, they laughed at someone because the student was interested in a summer engineering program (Really people? Laugh at someone because they are interested in something intellectual?) Just annoying at times, but it’s pretty much due to the people in my classes, and that’ll change when the semester is over, so soon it shall be the end.

That guy sounds like such a nerd. Everyone at my school is really impressed by academic things so I wouldn’t know. The only person who goes around calling everyone nerds is me.

I find education-related stuff really interesting, though. Like the debates over affirmative action, whether standardized testing is good, stuff like that. It began when I started looking at colleges but it grew to sort of an interest in itself.

I was ready to get through HS by the end of 8th grade. I researched colleges all throughout HS, and fixated myself more on MIT and CMU. I always wanted to leave HS, even contemplated graduating early.
