I'm in AP _____, but I feel like I'm learning nothing.

For me it's Stats (I was forced to take it). That class is so bleeping mind-numbingly boring!!! When the hell will I ever use this crap in real life!? And the teacher can't teach either:

-"Ugh...yeah...that problem...well let me get back to you on that one, ok? I can't figure it out."
-"Oh, you guys I'm sorry. I've been teaching you the wrong formula for the past 3 days. We don't use that until Chapter 8. Here's the correct formula."
-"I don't know if your answer is write. I don't have an answer key for the even numbered problems"

And ALL of her powerpoints use black font with the grayest background. No pictures either.

-_-

Dicuss, rant, whatever

You kidding? Statistics is one of the most useful math classes I’ve taken in high school. In the business world, almost everything is driven by statistics. Knowing how to set up a proper study and interpret information and data are crucial skills to have.

It’s unfortunate that your teacher is incompetent.

Yeah, stat’s was one of my best APs by far.
I’m so sorry that yours sucks. :/

My worst was AP English Lang. I learned absolutely nothing, all year. She taught it just like her regular level classes.

Join the club. I’m taking AP stats because i took honors PC last year and struggled through it. I barely passed. The honors PC is the AP Calc teacher so I decided to take stats instead. I don’t like my stats class, the teacher assigned seats himself and I feel like I’m learning very little, and nothing in dept. I fail to see the connections between the lesson, and my homework :S

Lit. I never wanted to tell a teacher to stop talking. Honestly, I don’t care about whatever the heck it is that we’re learning. I JUST DON’T CARE.

^I can agree with that. I took AP English Language, and found it helpful in developing my critical reasoning abilities. I opted out of taking AP Literature my senior year, and all of my friends complain that it’s nothing but poetry analysis and reading Shakespeare. Who needs that?

The curriculum is a joke, but even so I find uses for AP Stats material almost every day. It’s by far the most real-world applicable class I’ve ever taken.

I don’t feel like I’m learning anything in AP Lit.

Chemistry
My teacher is the dumbest person in the class.
“Yeah, just buy that Princeton Review AP Chemistry book or whatever and it’ll teach you whatever you need to know”

There are only 5 of us in the class, so obviously he doesn’t need to teach us anything. . .

-.-

Last year AP Spanish was my easiest class, and I felt like I learned nothing new. My APUSH class wasn’t super challenging either. This year however, my AP classes are really great so far, so I’m excited.

Calc BC. The teacher is absolutely awful. She explains everything so ridiculously backwards that she’s beginning to confuse me on the math I already know.

I’m in IB Physics, and I KNOW that I’m learning nothing. Our teacher assigned us a plethora of assignments online that he didn’t even tell us about in class. We also were expected to know the first five chapters of the textbook before class even began. Needless to say, I already know 12 people who are ready to drop the class. He means well, but he just can’t teach.

AP World for me, last year. My teacher was one of those who would always TALK about how rigorously we were going to have to work… but would never actually do anything about it. She mainly read us powerpoints that she got off the internet.

AP Stats. He thinks that we’re all ■■■■■■■ and explains things in the simplest way multiple times. It’s also the most boring class I’ve ever taken.

Probably true, but it’s SO ****ING BORING that I feel dirty whenever I do make use of the stuff.

Stats for me is one that so far I’ve learned nothing… but it’s really useful, makes sense, and I’m glad that I’m taking it.

We haven’t had to use formulas at all so far. We’re in chapter 5 of our book, too. =/

APUS, ughhh teacher is so boring. He talks and in the middle of lectures he pauses like 2 seconds frequently and it gets boring. He just repeats what the textbook says less thoroughly and the class is a waste of my time. It would be better just to re-read the textbook.

APUSH…what a joke. Teacher was probably not even qualified to teach AP >_>

AP Econ…
It was supposed to be both Micro and Macro but the teacher felt that we were too dumb to learn it all in the allotted time…plus he is incredibly boring

Is anyone here just taking stats because it’s easier than Calc? Just curious…

IB spanish SL.

basically 9 months of learning subjunctive. I could have done that in a week. so much useless busywork. So glad I already tested in that class…
