Which AP Class Should I Take, AP Statistics Or AP English. Which Class Has A Harder Workload? Which Class Is Easier? I'm Already Taking AP US History. So, Which Class Should I Take?

which has a harder workload? depends on the school. i would say ap english is harder because essays and readings

but what are your interests? what colleges do you want to go to? what do you want to major in at college? do you like math or english better?

Looking at AP English, I have heard that AP Lang is a lot easier than AP Lit. Usually seniors take AP Lit and juniors take AP Lang. This classes are relatively easy depending on how good of a comprehensive reader you are. What is most appealing about the AP English classes is that they give you credit for Comp 1 and Comp 2. These two courses are required in almost every 4 year university for EVERY degree.

AP Statistics is similar to the AP English classes because you need to apply what you have learned in it. If you have a strong love for math or want to become an engineer, accountant, or even lawyer then this course will be required.

Overall I would take AP English. If you achieve a “4” on the exam then you get 6 credits for Comp 1 and Comp 2. If you are not a strong reader then there is nothing wrong with AP Statistics which I would compare as just as challenging.

I am more of a math person, and I do want to major in Business Administration, so i’m leaning towards AP Stats because of that.

If you are only allowed to take one AP class in your entire high school career, it should be AP English. AP English, across the board, improves everyone’s writing and reading comprehension which is relevant in every single major - because you could be a brilliant mathematician, but if you don’t have the language skills to communicate your ideas succinctly and effectively, then where will you be?

tl;dr - AP English is the most relevant and important AP class the CB offers.

I’d recommend English because English is more of a core subject than statistics (assuming you don’t intend to have AP Stats as your only math class for the year).

@nmehta98, it would be nice to get credit for an intro class, and move ahead in advanced classes related to your major. can you take an honors english class? or is it ap or regular? ap stats is way more relevant to your intended major, compared to ap english, though both do have relevance. if your interests are telling you to take ap stats, then take ap stats. take what you like.

and everybody has their opinion on what’s the most important and relevant class offered by college board. each class requires some amount of essay writing, especially ap stats, and all the classes try to shape students in expressing ideas “succinctly and effectively.” that’s been a common theme in all my ap classes.

Yes, Actually AP English Isn’t Even Offered At My School I’d Have Too Take It Online. APUSH And AP Calculus Are Only APs Offered. There Is An English Honors Option, Which Is What I’m Leaning Towards. It’s Not That I’m A Horrible English Student, It’s Just That I Even Though I Can Get An A+ In English, I Really Don’t Like It. But Statistics Should Be A Little Bit More Interesting, And Math Is My Strongest Subject.

then i would go for ap stats, especially since ap english is online. you have an honors english option, so that seems better. go with what you like better.

You desperately need AP English judging by the fact that you capitalized every single word in that post…

yeah, op, it’s too bad you don’t realize the formality of cc

^
But capitalizing every word takes more effort than doing it the right way…

Probably Using A Phone

and, also, who caRES

Grammar is uber important, you guize.

LOL the irony is that AP Lang doesn’t actually teach you when to capitalize words, that’s what a standard 2nd grade ELA curriculum is for.

If it’s OP’s phone, then that be one ratchet cellular device.

I know about capitalization, I just like capitalizing each word. Does it really matter anyway?

I think i’ll be taking AP Stats. This how my schedule will be AP Statistics, AP US History, Pre-Calculus Honors, Calculus Honors, Chemistry Honors, English III Honors.

It is literally so important, you can’t even fathom it. Capitalization is a cornerstone of western civilization, without properly capitalizing the first word in every sentence along with proper nouns, what distinguishes us from animals and heathens?

How does one take Pre-Calculus and Calculus at the same time?

Block scheduling can make it so pre-calculus is before calculus even though they’re in the same year.
But you don’t really need pre-calculus before calculus. Pre-calculus isn’t an actual math field…it’s just some stuff they thought you should know.

If you’re motivated to work hard and succeed in the subject as opposed to wanting to get the highest score possible - please choose AP English. AP Stats is probably much easier, but AP English is much more useful and looks better on a transcript.
