Everyone says that revelle is the hardest college. Coming from someone that got admitted with a 3.5 uc gpa, I feel like I will die!
Any tips, to prepare myself?
And possibly some reasurance?

Im going to admit day on the 9th :)

Im going to admit day on the 9th :)

omg!! me tooo… =/, im scared, because my sat score is 1650…sooo, this worries me, ill be there on admit day too =D

in revelle, you have to take calculus! o__0
i’ve heard it’s one of the best colleges in UCSD though :)

I like the comprehensive education. And, frankly, the HUM series look really interesting (this coming from someone who got a 2 on APUSH Test).

But, I heard that Revelle has the most class activities and traditions on campus.
It would be great if a freshman would comment and give us a nice pro/con list of Revelle.

Either way, I still think UCSD is the bombest college ever =D

ya Im excited! What are your guy’s majors? Im pre-human development. I feel like Ima have alotttt of work cut out for me :/

Physiology and Neuroscience here =D
Really Excited

Hello! I am a freshman at UCSD, Warren College. Although I’m in Warren, I have friends in Revelle, and I go there often so I have my own opinion of the college.

Disclaimer: A lot of these are going to sound biased, and I apologize for that.

PROS OF REVELLE:
– Oldest college at UCSD. Therefore, it has a bunch of traditions and events just for the college.
– Closest college to the entrance of La Jolla Shores (the beach! and the cliffs!).
– For the science majors, you’re literally in front of York Hall, where ALL lower division chem classes, some math, and physics classes are at. Everyone else in the other colleges complain about the walk to York because it’s such a b*tch, but the Revelle people have nothing to complain about.
– Rumor has it one of the accessible entrances to the infamous UCSD underground tunnels is at Revelle… =X
– CLICS. The library that is open 24 hours during week 10 and finals week. However, CLICS is closing down next year due to budget cuts so you guys lucked out. =/
– Roger’s, Revelle’s market, is pretty decent. They have booomb milkshakes.
– Revelle has new apartments built for next year, and some people are even living in them right now. I heard they’re really nice!
– Yes, you guys have a lot of GEs. Yes, I heard the HUM sequence is intense, but most people I know tend to like the series overall because it’s “interesting.” C’mon, don’t complain about writing essays and doing tons of reading. This is college. But yeah, if you’re a science major, the GEs won’t be much of a bother for you because a lot of the GEs are required for your major as well so you’ll be killing two birds with one stone, pretty much.
– There’s a “stonehenge” behind CLICS! Check it out.
– The student council is pretty good. My friend’s on it. They plan a lot of activities and events for the students. For example, I remember a few weeks ago, they gave out free In n’ Out burgers! :O

CONS:
– Dorms suck. hahaha. I’m sorry. Revelle is the oldest college, so the dorms are the oldest. This year, a lot of the “overflow” students from Warren and Muir were sent to live in Revelle, so you might not be living with Revelle students. =p
– Plaza, Revelle’s dining hall, sucks. Probably the worst on campus (Warren is sliiiightly better, but Warren’s dining hall still sucks as well hahah). In fact, I heard they’re gonna close Plaza next year because they’re opening another dining hall by the Village. It’s okay, because Pines, Muir’s dining hall, is just a short walk from Revelle, and that place is great! It is UCSD’s newest dining hall.
– Good luck with those GEs, hah. But learn to enjoy them!

That’s all I can think of right now. hope it helps and good luck!

Doesnt sound bad to me, Im just wondering about the people there, i hear they’re antisocial, anyone know anything about that?

Ya i hear its know for its “lack of parties” Whats near ucsd, to do?

@rangeicecream

i was accepted to warren for biochem. could you do that analysis for warren???

@Bambi, there is always the beach and i know if i go i will be going to chargers and padres games, the only issue i know of is that the partes usually happen at schools that are kinda far from revelle

OKAY. About this whole “socially dead” myth…

UCSD is strong on academics. A lot of people here like to study. A lot of people here also like to party. Here’s the bottom line: If you wanna have a good time, you have to GO OUT AND LOOK FOR IT. Don’t sit in your dorm and expect the fun to come to you. Make an effort in finding the fun. A lot of people come into UCSD every year with the whole “This school is gonna be sooo dead” mentality and quite frankly, it messes a lot of people up and unmotivates people into going out and making new friends. Don’t have that mentality. DON’T. Okay, UCSD isn’t the most social school, but people do have parties. You just gotta know where to find it. Or start them. Most of it just happens off campus because campus police are soo strict, especially with noise complaints and issues with underage drinking. If you want a rich social life, go greek. Or shoot, even go to I-House (where all the on campus parties happen) on the weekends with your suitemates and see what’s happening there. Join a club. Join a sports team. Yes, you will meet those antisocial losers at UCSD; just avoid them. Most of you will be living in res halls for your freshman year, and your suitemates will essentially be your kickback crew throughout the year if they’re not antisocial losers or *******s. So, shoot, if you and your suitemates have the same goals in the social life department, team up and go find whatever you’re looking for. College is what you make it, after all. UCSD can be a fun experience. I mean, I’m enjoying it. hah.

More pro’s:
How many dining halls on UCSD offer fresh breakfast at 7 am? Good before that 8 am final. Though it’s very probable they will not be continuing this next year XP
Fleets are being renovated, their lounges are very nice
Wake up 2 minutes before class and get to York without being late
Muir Field, Natatorium for swimming, and Main Gym all close by, not as nice as RIMAC

More con’s
Pepper Canyon/ Warren buildings are far, and oh, to get to RIMAC…
Plaza food is spontaneous, sometimes prepares very unappetizing food… (Awesome milkshakes at Roger’s though)
Argo & Blake are pretty old (but they have kitchens and the floor setup lets you see/yell at people across or below your floor)
Slow elevator in Argo, not even elevators in fleets
Good luck for T-mobile users, Verizon/AT&T not 100% working but pretty good

There’s stonehenge, big chair, fountain that rarely works (pretty when it is), and the anchor that people graffiti/paint over every week or so. And like other colleges, Revelle does try to prepare lots of activities, from CAB Breakfast (all you can eat for $.50) to Club Argo to Burnout (free food and activities during finals week) to Gotcha! (“assassin” game) which really livened up residents. Most recent tradition was Undie Run XD

There are overflow students from other colleges, Marshall last year and Warren this. But Revelle students don’t share suites with them, and most of them live on one floor depending on the number of overflow students.

Freshman at REVELLE

1) So many activities and events
2) So many leadership opportunities
3) Roger’s place opens until 1am It’s the hip place that employs hot people
4) You can always walk to Pines if Plaza doesn’t have anything appetizing

CONS:
