I took my first AP test a couple weeks ago and I hope to get a 3 or 4. I thought I did good on the FRQ's (maybe messed one part up), but overall did good. I even drew a picture for one of the FRQ's. I crossed a lot of things out, so I'm worried if they can read it. I was in AP Human Geo if your wondering, lol. I had an 82% the first semester and an 80% (dropped 4 points because of final) the second semester in the class. I would have a 90 and 91 with the 10 points. I got a 3 on one practice test and did really really bad on the other (but everyone did bad). I also thought I did better than usual on the MC. I also answered all the questions and had plenty of time to go back and check my answers.

My teacher made me worry because he was measuring what your grade in the class to what you will get on the exam. He said if you got under an 85 (without the points) that you will prob. get a 2. Then he told me that I will probably get a 2 or 3. I really would be content/happy if I got a 3 since it's my first AP exam. But my teacher kind of brought my confidence down.

How bad will a 2 hurt me when I apply to college's? My teacher said schools like to see improvement. So, if I get a better score next year that it looks good. I also tried really hard and did my best. Also, do any college's even except 3's on AP exams? Thanks!

AP scores don’t really matter, unless they seriously contradict your grade in the class (ex: A in class, 1 on the exam). You don’t even have to report them to colleges on your application if you don’t want to. I don’t want to say they don’t matter at all, but AP scores will only really come into play once you get into college and try to get credit for them.

Considering it was your first AP, don’t sweat it.

Most public universities give you credit for a 3. Don’t worry about it too much man. The first one is always rough - it gets easier after you take more. Who knows, you might even get the 4 you thought you got. It’s in the past now, and you can’t change what you did, so don’t worry about it. Be positive and move forward.

Yeah I’ll just be positive and what ever happens, happens for a reason. I just don’t want a low AP exam grade to hurt me in the end. I just hope for the best.

shares the worry

I also took my first a couple weeks ago (Calc AB). The in-class practice test was a 5, so hopefully the real thing will turn out that way too.

Took my first ap exam too as a sophomore. Three exams exactly: Calculus AB, Chemistry, and World History. After taking Calculus AB, I became really nervous about my AP score. AP Chemistry, too. Well, AP World History was so easy that I know that I would receive a 5 on that. i hope I receive 5 on all my three exams. After the week of the AP exam, lost all of my worries.

So lose your worries! Just remain calm and hope for the best.

and wait, your teacher said that if you have a B in the class, you willl get a 2 or a 3. I wouldn’t pretty much base my AP score with my actual grade in the class. You know there could be a kid with a C in an ap class and still manage to get a 5 on the exam. Besides, you should never let a teacher bring down your confidence. The only person that brings down or up your confidence is you. So slap yourself out of it and say “I will totally get a 3, and maybe even a 4!”

Hope u get a good grade.

Thanks Jerry. School is over anyways, I should enjoy the summer. I also was a freshman when I took it. I take AP World next year, lol. Good Luck to you too Jerry and noimagination. I’ll repost when I get the results, good or bad. :)

@ OP, definitely DO NOT base your actual exam grades off of your grades in the course. Last year in my APUSH class, I received 70s and low 80s all year. However, I got a 4 on the exam without studying, because even though my teacher was tough, he prepared me very well for the exam. Likewise, my average in AP LIT was over 100 weighted, and I received a 4 rather than a 5 on that exam.

Thanks Tbell. My teacher was the one who me that. That’s why I was worried.
