So my mom "agreed" on boarding school...with some conditions. We need to get enough financial aid that we only play about 10,000 a year. A five-day boarding program is great. And in the states of DE, PA, NJ, MD. The school doesnt have to be like a popular school such as Lawrenceville or something (cant really afford it). But in DE there is St. Andrews School, any info on that? We called there and the "nice" lady in the office basically told us not to go there. (helpful yeah i know). So any help at all would be amazing! I would be going for 11th grade...im in 9th now. I just need some help on this!!

What do you mean "We called there and the "nice" lady in the office basically told us not to go there."? What did she say? There are many schools in New Jersey, a few good ones in PA (Hill and Mercersburg come to mind), St. Andrews in DE, and not sure about MD. Check out boardingschoolreview.com and search for schools by state.

first you need to go on boardingschoolreview.com and search for schools with 5 day boarding.
don't call or schedule anything until fall of your 10th grade year. for now, re and reread websites until you come up with a list of about 5-10 schools. Make that list final because you don't want to bother schools with sending you stuff and setting up interviews if your not going to follow through with the process. Make sure you complete all the FA stuff and applications as well as SSAT and interviews before the dealine.
Things to be aware of...
-It is VERY hard to get in boarding school LET ALONE an eleventh grade applicant
-the financial aid applications and proccess is the toughest thing your parents will ever do. make sure they start asap (in fall of course) and make sure they understand they have to follow through or BAM no financial aid.
-you have the rest of this year and next to be an AMAZING person. get the best grades, do community service, do sports and afterschools and LOTS of Extra Curriculars. be the best person you can be, don't screw it up

hope to be of help, emma
you can talk to me whenever, I'll help because I've been through this all

Look at Hackley in Westchester. It's a majority day school, but they have a small 5 day boarding program.

to kitkatbear...she said she wont even send her kids there. She was like you never get to see your kids...it is strict..you cant even watch TV here...she basically was just putting down boarding schools. I dont know why she worked there..

St. Andrew's is one of the best small boarding schools in the country. It is definitely NOT a 5 day boarding school. It is 100% boarding, no day students, and it expects it students to all be active in the St. Andrew's community. It is on the small side so getting in as a junior is probably very difficult.
