I don't exactly have the best stuff to strut, so I don't really know if i should even apply. i mean, it IS $70 to apply. Thank you for helping me in this time of crisis :D ahaha

I think that you should only apply if you are planning on doing ED1 or ED2...you are going to have a hard time getting in if you only apply in the regular round..

hope that helps :)

by the way, if you just edited it you don't need to put the extra posts :p

I'm currently a freshman at RPI and I got in with lower scores than you. I'm also a Korean male so don't worry about the mythical "asian disadvantage" you hear about.

@akiomidori: oh. hahah. well that's a high point of my day. i in fact do plan on applying ED1.
@zeronax: What major did you choose? i really don't know what to apply with. i've been doing my homework, and i found RPI has a savage biomed curriculum and that its a realy hard major to get into with. i really dont want to do this, but i guess ill have to choose my major accordingly. (lol that's my punishment for slacking off in my junior year.)

people here apply to med school from any major...so I don't know what you're taking about...I, myself, am going to apply to med school and I am a biochemistry/biophysics major...

but isn't biomedical engineering major a hard one to get into with? i mean, UCSD has so much competition that only the valedictorian bio geniuses get in with that major.

If I'm not mistaken, all non-accelerated majors are equally difficult/easy to be granted acceptance into. That is, the major that you write on your application doesn't matter all that much in the actual application process.

(Note: the above statement possibly only applies within schools. That is, it is possible that the School of Engineering has a different set of graders than the School of Science, but within these schools, the major isn't taken into account).

I too- like you- wanted to "mess with the system" by applying to the major I thought would be most likely for me to get in.
Honestly- don't do that. It's not fair- and it won't help you. Put the major you WANT to be. not what is most likely to get you in, because if you try and switch, and let's say there is some sort of maximum capacity- then you don't get to study the major you want- and really what's the point of that?
And if you're really wondering it's all about the same "chances" within each sub school. However- let's say you had a BioMedEngineering internship, you might have better chances at the BioMedEngineering major. But honestly- just put the major down you actually want to be.

haha. yeah. i was indecisive about whether i should do materials engineering or biomed but i guess its over now! already sent my app in about two weeks ago. =D are my stats really low? im really freaking out right now XD b/c i want to get in and get over with the whole college rush. you nkow, relax.
