I'm preparing myself for the worst...

Based on this: Amherst's acceptance rate this year was around 5.5%. Bowdoin's was 8%. What is Princeton's going to be?!

Dammit........And I thought I would have a better chance this year....-_-

well that makes me feel better about being wait-listed at amherst today =)

Assuming they accept the same as last year, it'll be 9.1%.

Whoops! I didn't take into account that they admit many more people than they have space for. It's actually between 15-20%. So maybe there's still hope!

I don't think they admit that many more. If they would admit 20% of what 20000 they would be expecting like a 50% yield, which they will far surpass.

Sorry, I meant 15-20% for Bowdoin/Amherst.

Ha. Waitlisted at Amherst too...

No worries, Princeton is all I need :)

If Stanford's admittance rate was 9.5%, then what rate would Princeton have?

Their waitlist rate was 6%.

I got waitlisted at Stanford, but Princeton has been my top choice all along.

I heard that Princeton is going to use the waitlist more this year.

Hopefully, I get accepted. Good luck to everybody!!!!!!!!!

I was accepted to Stanford, it came as a total surprise. I didn't even know decisions were being emailed yesterday, and I stumbled on it last night around 11:30. Needless to say, it took a while before I could calm down enough to go to sleep.

LaxGal08, congratulations on your acceptance to Stanford!!!!!!

yeah supposedly princeton might even take hundreds off the wait-list... i guess it'd be nice surprise to get the call from them saying that you got off the wait-list... but id rather just get in =D

LOL, on nytimes I think it said that Princeton recieved 20,118 applications this year. I calculated pthe percentage w/ actual enrolled students and it was like 5.5%. Then I realized my error. :)

Princeton's admit rate this year is 9.25%; my admissions officer emailed us and told us..

Good luck everyone!

One more day! Good luck :) Haha last night I dreamed that I got in...

last night I had a dream I got rejected... Which is probably a good thing because it's what's going to happen.

haha hey thanks! so...the consensus is that the adcom will take less than they normally do and then take people off the waitlist if the yield is lower than expected?

Princeton sets applications record for fourth year in a row - 2/4/2008 - Princeton Weekly Bulletin

The total number of applicants to Princeton this year was 21,262. This was about a 12% increase over last year and mirrored what was seen at most other competitive schools. (The lower number was reported before all applications had been received.)

If Joseph’s source is correct and the acceptance rate is 9.25% then 1,967 students will have been accepted to fill a class of about 1,250. This suggests that the Admission Office may be guessing that the yield will drop to around 64% in the absence of early decision. With a number this low they are probably being conservative and I’m wondering if there will be much need for the waitlist. There have been many changes this year including the ending of early decision, the financial aid improvements at Princeton’s peers and an increased number of multiple applications by anxious students. Predictions about likely results will be more difficult.

The results will be known tomorrow and hopefully many of you will be pleased. Remember to keep all of this in perspective. Twenty years from now, your success in life will be due far more to your own hard work and inspiration than to your association with a particular undergraduate school.

Good luck to all applicants this year!

"last night I had a dream I got rejected... Which is probably a good thing because it's what's going to happen."

haha it's good to know i'm not the only one having ridiculous dreams at night about college decisions...

so far, in my dream world, i've been accepted to Princeton and Columbia and rejected from UPenn...
I'm trying to decide whether to believe the dreams or believe the opposite of my dreams... haha im such a nervous wreck :D
