So im a junior and Im taking AP calc, and in the first semester I got a 70%, but in the second semester I got a 93%. My question is how badly that 70 will hurt my chances to my colleges?? That 70 goes on my transcript too, Im soo worried.

My colleges:
Umich, OOS
UNC, In state
Wake forest
Uchicago
Nc state
Clemson

Final grades are usually the only grades figured into GPA; of course, all four quarters make up the final grade. Usually AP classes are weighted, so it may not have as much of an impact as you think.

The 70 is final, the way the transcript works at our school is that they put each semester grade down. The 93 I have now is just at the start of the 2nd semester, so I cant earse the 70

Obviously, it looks better if you never struggle at all. But I frankly think it’s impressive that you’ve apparently conquered whatever was giving you trouble. If the rest of your grades are solid, I wouldn’t worry at all.

IMO high school students often think that admissions counselors are looking for a reason to reject them and that is not usually true. If you have a bad semester in one class, it is probably not enough to cause you to be rejected. Often you are asked to write about something that didn’t come easy or caused you to struggle. Do the best you can from this point forward.
