I haven’t turned in the CSS of FAFSA yet as I’m in special circumstances and have to send in a documented financial aid supplement along with a noncustodial waiver. I have to finish making all these tertiary documents complete in their content and was wondering if I’m going to be hurt by not having turned it already. I know you’re supposed to turn it in as soon as possible but is waiting a week or two going to hurt in any way possible? I’m planning on turning it in tomorrow or so. THANKS!
It depends on the school as some do run out of some funds, but really, what does it matter now? You’re sending them in tomorrow. It’s either going to matter or not matter (probably not as long as you are within the deadlines, and at least for FAFSA you are), so there isn’t anything you can do about it now.
Some schools run out of SEOG and work study funds pretty quickly. I know people who stay up on NYE to file. Do people who file on Jan 2 get SEOG funds? I think so. I didn’t file my daughter’s FAFSA last year until Feb 28 and she received SEOG funds. Some schools have a lot of money and ways to distribute it so everyone gets some.
Do the FAFSA with 2015 estimates. Your non-custodial parent isn’t included on the FAFSA…at all.
Any special circumstances are not done right now anyway.
I understand that the FAFSA doesn’t have a noncustodial waiver, I applied to a lot of privates that require it of the CSS. Twoinanddone thank you, you calmed my nerves a bit. I just didn’t want to lose a significant amount of aid or at least know if I already have.
