Please Chance! Thanks

someone help!

bump ^^

Mit ~reach
Georgetown ~match
Wharton (UPENN)~slight reach
Harvard ~reach
Yale~reach
Princeton~reach
Columbia~slight reach
Cornell~match
Dartmouth~slight reach
Stanford~reach
UC Berkeley~match
Colgate~safety
Tufts~safety
Duke~match

wow great stats and ECs congrats!!! Here's my opinion:
MIT - reach (it's a reach for anybody)
Georgetown - match
Harvard - reach (again a reach for anybody)
Wharton - reach (once again a reach for anybody)
Yale - reach (" ")
Princeton - reach (" ")
Columbia - reach (" ")
Cornell - slight reach/match (you'll probably get it, but IMO not quite as a "guaranteed" in as with Georgetown
Dartmouth - reach (reach to anybody)
Stanford - reach (if you were in state I would probably say that you'd be a match, but since you r from New Jersey it will be a little tougher)
UC Berkley - match (although again, in state you'd be "guaranteed" in so-to-speak, but still you'll most likely to get in)
Colgate - definate math
Tufts - match (would say definate match except that it is just getting more and more competitive each year, then again what school isn't getting more competitive each year? lol)
Duke - match

I would recommend applying early decision/early action to your number one school, it would increase your chances and would pretty much mean that you are in with any of these schools (except for HYP basically). But if can't make up ur mind then you'll definately get in to one of these exceptional schools, so never fear, you'll be headed off to an outstanding school in the fall of '09. Good luck!!!

There is essential info missing that really renders most of the above useless IMO. We don't even know her class rank!

We can deduce that we have an Asian candidate from NJ. That is a very difficult profile to gain admittance to a top college as there are a huge number of similar students from very competitive NJ schools vying for a limited number of spots. NJ is crazy competitive even for URMs.

The class rank would have to be very high (top 2%?) to be competitive in this group. We have the same issue in CA.

Our school doesn't provide a rank,

but I am considered to be the top 1 percent of the class. I go to a magnet school, so the system is complicated.

You certainly have a shot! Do add some safety schools though and make sure you have financial safeties. By that I mean make sure to work the numbers now and make sure your parents can pay what the private schools will want them to.

ur momma is going down :p
(in a good way...:))

don't retake your SAT, lmao. they're excellent as they are, esp. with you ACT score =]

The reason college admissions in the this country is so messed up is from people like you. You go to USNWR and select the top 15 or so colleges and apply there simply based on rank (And 6/8 of the Ivies..Ambitious!). Of course you get into all of them because you have great statistics, but you only can go to one, so that leaves 14 acceptances letters representing the spots of students you've stolen. So what are your chances? The same flipping chances everyone else has, but if you want to prepetuate the insanity that college admissions has come to, by all means, join the other 100,000 that apply to your 15 schools each of which I'm so sure you'd attend.

Though put sort of bluntly (well, very bluntly) halopeno does have a point...why dont u try to figure out what you really like...and narrow down your choices. In that way, you can even trim your resume to fit the schools you apply to better, and increase ur chances

well said (10 characters)

ok. i see a lot of fluff in your profile. some worthless awards and some meaningless "commitments". there were certainly some impressive feats, but they are tainted by your inclusion of filler accomplishments. get rid of those.

good gpa. mediocre test scores. overall, i say ECs are all over the place and i see no passion.

reject by:wharton, HYPSM, columbia, dartmouth, UCB
in at: georgetown, cornell, colgate, tufts, duke

You can't see a passion? You can see a focus in my EC?

WRITING

don't get defensive. i'm merely pointing out that with all the fluff going on, i can't see anything that stands out. sure, there's some stuff for writing, but there's tons more for this and for that

But doesn't it show well-roundedness and consistency?

haha thanks for the tidbit, debate_addict :]

it shows that you can do more than just write...
u have a focus, and a passion, but also other things that extend beyond that domain...

I don't tihnk you are good enough to get into most of the schools you are applying to.
But chances are, you'll get into about one of your reach schools (HYPMS).

Why do you say so?
