<p>As you said, the school was your safety and you wouldn’t have chosen it anyway. </p>
<p>If you actually want to attend the school, a simple letter of intent could get you out of the waiting list. But you don’t. Leave the spot for those who actually want to go to the school.</p>
<p>When I first saw this and everyone was talking about “Tufts Syndrome” (or whatever), I thought it meant “student who uses the pretext ‘Poor me, I didn’t get in to Tufts’ to boast about all the other schools that accepted him/her!'”</p>
<p>Momwonders- Think you are right on target!! GW primarily accepts students who demonstrate true interest and/or are a good fit for GW. I too am tired of hearing students who are “overqualified” complain about tufts syndrome after receiving a denial or wait list decision!</p>
