I'm thinking of switching over from the SAT to ACT

Hey guys I'm a sophomore, I've been scoring in the lower 1900's for the SAT's despite the fact that my standard, I'm a pretty smart guy. If you require any proof, I got a 99.1 and 98.8 in AP Bio, first and second quarters and I didn't take honors bio, skipped it. I feel like that if material is taught to me, I can understand it well. I think the reason I do poorly on my SAT is that there's no real source of exactly what you need to know. What do you guys think? Should I stop studying for the SAT and switch over to the ACT?

The ACT is generally much more direct.

Math questions on the ACT are much more Do you know how to do this? instead of taking that knowledge and using it in a certain situation.

Reading is very direct and there’s no difficult vocab its just easier words in context.

english is pretty much the same and science varies from very easy to very hard

Just try out a practice ACT and see how you do.

The science section is what might really mess up your score.

The science will defffff hinder you.

@imokayman and @cantstopwontstop thanks for the sarcasm haha.

We are just trying to warn you bro.

Well what do you think, should I switch over from the SAT to the ACT?

I get the vibe that you’re sciencey so maybe you can go beastmode on the science part. So go for it :)

haha alright!

I suck at english
ACT is 100% easier for me

No seriously, getting a good score on the Science section has little to do with how good you are at Science. Sometimes the graphs are just hard to understand or confusing, like in the February test, the last graph was simply very hard to understand. Plus, you have very little time (this is the main difference between the ACT and the SAT).

But yeah, take a practice test

http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/preparing.pdf

ACT is 200% easier for me.

I took the PSAT and got a 190…

I took the ACT Prep (booklet they give you + Real ACT Prep) and got 33-35

For me, ACT math is easier than SAT math.

You should try both to see which one you do better on. My daughter started with the ACT, but eventually did better on the SAT.

As a gauge, a 30 on the ACT is about equivalent to a 2000 on the SAT. I would take each test once, and then see which one you do better on. The Science section of the ACT is mostly reading and interpreting graphs; not particularly difficult for the most part, but the time restriction is a challenge.

ACT math is conceptually harder than SAT math.

SAT math pulls fast ones on you to trick you into answering the wrong problem.

ACT generally doesn’t do that.

If the vocabulary questions killed your SAT score (out of 1600), than you will likely do better on the ACT. Probably about the same score otherwise.
