.. I am trying to get into UT Austin, but I go to a private school that has 250 students and 65 HIGHSCHOOLERS (10-15 in each grade). I know that UT accepts people that are top 10% but my school doesn't go by that rule.

There is also holistic admissions for non auto admits. Make high scores on your SAT/ACT and write compelling essays and you will have a chance.

Continue to set yourself apart from the rest. I myself was not in top 10% but made sure I was involved in my school as much as possible! Start early in preparing your application. Do ALL essays. Not just the required limit. Study for the SAT/ACT and aim high. Also, start writing down and elaborating everything that you have been involved with such as extra curricular activities outside of high school, volunteer work, work experience, and more. Inspirational stories that relate to your life are also other avenues in the essay application arena!

I truly wish you the best of luck! It is a great school! Hook Em’ and work hard and believe!!
