I got a letter of acceptance to the NASS about a month ago and I sent in the registration fee and papers saying that I would attend Session 3. I read that once the Academy recevies the papers and registration fee, they would send a letter of confirmation. I have yet to recieve this letter. Has anyone else who got accepted gotten this letter??

^^^^^
Nothing here. The confirmation was supposed to be a receipt for payment.

I got my letter a couple of days ago. It basically says they received all the forms and money, and you're good to go. It also gives some travel information (airport stuff, etc.)

I haven't received anything and I sent my papers in about 2 weeks ago.

flyingace11, and all other nass kids new to this program, did the packet say to bring lots of extra t-shirts? if so, don't. it's the biggest waste of luggage space ever. especially if you plan to bring anything home. just trust me, they give you enough shirts to wear for everything, we weren't even allowed to wear any shirts we brought. the also give you pt shirts and sweats, so you really don't need pj's either. have fun. it was definitely the best week of my life.

If you haven't noticed already, the USNA is very slow in responding to things. =P

Us NASS attendees are lower than the incoming plebes on the food chain; actually, we're basically at the bottom. We're not THAT important -- at least not yet. :D

The USNA will get back to us. Just be patient.

Well said. Be patient. You'll get a letter of instruction and admission to The Yard.

Is there air conditioning in Bancroft Hall?

^^^^^
Yes, there is air conditioning and heat in Bamcroft Hall. However, the AC is not turned on for NASS.

I've been on this site for some time but I've had trouble posting.
I was accepted to NASS Session 3! I'm soooo excited!
And I have yet to recieve anything in the mail either

the ac was turned on for us. i almost froze to death! slept in my pt's and sweats everynight.

you guys should bring extra shampoo so you and your squad mates can wash you pt shirts in the sink at night. i loaned some to the guys in my squad and never got it back.;)

My D went last year. Based on advice on CC she took some trash bags (Sea trials are the day before you go home and your clothes will be wet and muddy - nice to keep them seperate from everything else). She also took febreeze and lots of people would come by and borrow it. They were given 5 NASS t-shirts, A navy under armour shirt, a navy sweat suit. Take lots of socks and underwear.

^^^ yea that's good advice, my entire bag smelled like the severn river when i got home. Come to think of it, those shoes still smell...

I through away the shoes I wore for sea trials at NASS. I don't think I have ever felt nastier or more tired in my life but it was still fun. If you have an older pair of running shoes I would definitely wear them.

I have heard rumors of a dance at the end. Can anyone validate/dismiss these rumors for me?

There's a social event, but one year it was a picnic.

^^^^^^^^ that's what usna says. ha. we had a barbeque and we still had to be in uniform. don't count on being able to wear that "nice" shirt they tell you to bring.

I would plan on not wearing a nice shirt even if you had one because during the picnic we had an impromptu game of football and got pretty dirty.

we did too. man, i wish i could do that week all over again.

There aint gone be no dance homeboy!!!!!!
Hahaha, you'll be grateful that your legs function reaonsably well on your way to the airport. By the way, TXinAK, you might want to adjust your biological clock cuz of time zone differences-you might be jetlagged the first ways.

Don't forget to train before (get to a pool for a few hours too).

To reiterate what someone else said, NASS will defeinitely be one of the best weeks of your life, dance or not.

But plebe summer fittna be off the chain!!!

My bad, my black side comes out when I get excited.
Have fun at NASS ya'll, good luck, Godspeed, Paice.
