imminent rejection

Chill out guys (if possible :))Enjoy the weekend while you can. Monday will be here before you know it, and everyone will all freak together then.

Good night!

Isnt it obvious that EA results, esp for schools like Yale and Stanford, will be MUCH MUCH WORSE than ED results? For one thing you're not committed to attending the school in any way so over-qualified applicants (the 2300 and 2400 with exceptional EC lots) actually have a higher chance of getting rejected cos it's more probable that they are gonna get accepted by other top schools in the RD round. Oh come on, you know you are applying to H or P or other top notch colleges come January. If the chance of you rejecting their offer is significantly higher than any ED acceptee (duh), Y and S will be more predisposed to rejecting you first to protect their yield.

I have been pessimistic ever since I sent that envelope off so honestly not expecting any canine dancing/singing on my computer screen on Tuesday morning (for me, i'm international). I sent by post and i used a fee waiver! God knows what possessed me that week. I just hope they get it that Yale is my dream. Not very likely though. Sigh.

btw, 1 vote for Bulldog Bloodbath :D it's subtle, catchy and very tragic indeed.

Bulldog Bloodbath... Yale Massacre.... Connecticut Carnage.... genius! xD

But really, how freaky is it to watch all of these other schools get their decisions, and reading all the posts by the used-to-be-hopefuls, while we still have another 2 days, 18 hours, 6 minutes, and 15 seconds until we get our own decisions?

:/

Anyway, there's nothing we can do about it now, so might as well try to enjoy the weekend.

i like Bulldog Bloddbath....but i pray for all of us that we wont need to use that term

the rejections from all the released schools has been a huge blow to my grade. we had some kids who seemed to fit the academic, EC and atmosphere at schools like Dartmouth and Cornell, but were rejected - similar to soooo many amazing applicants on CC.

in short, this blows.
a suggestion:
i've been trying to prepare myself for miniaml disappointment. i've reread the rejection letter from last year a few times to simulate monday haha (but seriously i have.) maybe even log in, then put the letter up to your screen and try not to cry.

i hope we can all get through this weekend!!

I'm quite sure I'm deferred because I didn't make my enthusiasm for Yale quite clear enough. Oh well. Better luck next time.

And let's face it - come Monday evening, the Yale board will be just as bad, if not worse than the Stanford board. There are 5500 Yale applicants and probably even fewer acceptances (maybe they'll surprise the world?) Posters need to get ready for the Carnage/Massacre/Bloodbath. This post is such a downer, but let's be realistic. Best of luck to everyone, but chances are slim that this luck will rub off on every Yale SCEAer.

:(

I kind of feel the same way, mist. I feel like I didn't make myself stand out enough. Don't you hate it when you don't realize something until after its too late? :(

Rmb that as someone has calculated according to past acceptance rates, approximately only 10 of CC Yalie-hopefuls will actually have their dreams realised..

yup, I calculated that back when there were 65 people on the Pledge list. Now there are about 80.

Assuming a optimistic (?) acceptance rate of 15%:
80x0.15= 12, Approximately 12 will be ACCEPTED.

Assuming an optimistic rejection rate of about 20%
80x0.20=16, Approximately 16 will be REJECTED.

Assuming a deferral rate of 65%
80x0.65= 52. Approximately 52 people will be DEFERRED.

That's the general gist, but I have a feeling that the rejection rate will be higher than 20% this time. :(
Best of luck to everyone.

I think we should be less hysterical with the name.
The title 'Yale Massacre' reminds me of that Bostonian 'massacre' of five people in ye olden dayes of 1770...

To honor that trend, how about the Yale Tea Party?

i still put my vote in for Bulldog Bloodbath
i like alliteration :P

^Sounds too optimistic for me. :p I know it's supposed to be similar to the fiasco that happened at the Boston Tea Party, but for me, the words "Tea Party" bring up images of Alice in Wonderland before anything lol.

Personally, I favor the Hillhouse Horrors, and then the Bulldog Bloodbath. Alliteration for the win?

Bulldog Bloodbath is by far the greatest title for the Yale agony and slaughtler left to be seen on Monday..

O woe.. This is going to be horrible. Thank God I'm going out of the country Tuesday... especially where the drinking age hits my own!

Yay!

limetime, i think the 15% accepted percentage is actually a little low. it may be optimistic for the entire EA pool, but CCers are considered to be the cream of the cream of the crop. thus, i suggest that (dare i say it) approximately 20% of CCers will get accepted.

My only consolation regarding the Stanford Slaughter is that everyone here is as shocked as me. Some of us gotta get in, right? If I was the only one worried I'd probably lose all hope lol.

Haha Yale Tea Party? I picture a little girl sitting around a princess table offering empty cups to her stuffed panda bears xD

"Hillhouse Horrors presents: Connecticut Carnage or How the Yelping Yale Hopefuls endured the Bloodbath and Bulldoggery.".

And...hellosail wins! =P

Bulldog Bloodbath hands down. Yes, I am also a fan of alliteration.

Oh god...the top student in our school (2330, got an honors in like every class, hardest coursee load, one of the best tennis players in the state, etc.) just got rejected from Stanford...bunch of other kids rejected from Columbia/Brown/Cornell already. Used to be all I could think about was what I would do after seeing my acceptance letter...now I can't even see it happening.

Oh, and Bulldog Bloodbath is the best

"the Yale Fail."

hhahha the Yale Fail
love it.
actually i hate it. but you know what i mean.
